75K Mile Service...what parts should I buy on my own?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I will need this done shortly, as I just hit 75k. My next oil change is scheduled in another 2,000 miles, so I'll probably have it done then. At the shop I got to, it was a little over $1,000 when my Dad had the service done on his TT-S. To keep some of those costs down, what things can I buy on my own and what specifically should I get. For example, spark plugs. Thanks guys

I would try to stay as oem as possible for the parts for maintenance. You can look up the service interval for our cars for 75k and go from there. Supposedly a big tune up right?

In for people’s opinion as well. I am getting close to 75k but I am a bit ahead of schedule. I changed my oil around 71k as well as the spark plugs around then as well. Oil will be changed again towards the end of the summer for me.

I might do the cabin air filter myself as well. The only thing I will have done by the shop is the DSG fluid flush as well as a carbon clean.

Also, make sure your tires have been rotated and have a fresh alignment if not addressed recently.

There probably more to the service but this is what I know off hand.

i bought my car at 70k. The only thing I did was change the oil/filter, cabin filter, tires/ alingment.

Does anyone have a schedule of what all needs to be done? Im not misfiring so I left the coils/plugs.

There's a recommended service schedule available from Audi online. It breaks down all of the major milestones and what exactly needs to be done. Try a quick Google search and you should be able to find it easily.

I had my 75k done at Audi and it was around ~$1100 and they had the car for 2 days.
They told me it was a pretty big one.
Oil change, DSG maintenance, Differential maintenance..
I can get a picture of everything they did on the receipt later tonight if that would help.

I'm glad to have Audi Care for one more service (75k). Not to hijack, but is there a list somewhere stating estimated costs for each service interval?

Best way I could figure how to show the schedule. Since I have a MT, it doesn't seem like too much. Also, I had my differential completely replaced about a year ago, so there better not be issues there.

I have the 65k/75k, so I wonder how much only the 85k will cost.

I purchased audi care 75k and 85k about 4 months ago for my 2011. I'll load up an image of the invoice showing what they did for 75k.

From what I can gather, it seems like there's a lot more time spent on DSG related things, so I may be in the clear.

I was quoted around $300 for the 85k service at my Audi dealer.

Exactly. They give the car a once over and do normal maintenance things. The DSG fluid and filter were the main part. Also v belt. I was a bit confused on the v belt thing. Audicare says check and replace if necessary. Well do I get money back if they dont replace it? No. So why is it the same price either way. Plus, if you don't replace it at that time...the next time to check it is at 150k? Doesn't seem right. Especially considering the cost of audicare.

So when I spoke to the dealership I told them I definitely wanted it replaced. But they didn't realize it was audi care at the time and thought I was paying cash because at the end they called and asked for payment. Not sure if they would have given me a hard time about it if they knew it was audi care.

An oil change and an opportunity to sell you on other parts and services

My used car came with Audicare, seems like a big hassle to need to be out of a car for an entire 1 or 2 days for some of these services

S4 spark plug service is at 55k? A4 at 75k.

I'm going in for my 95k within the next couple months. They told me it was going to be the same price, ~$300.
Just an oil change, cabin air filter, and then their comprehensive vehicle inspection.
I think the next big one is at 115k.

Great thanks. Once my Audi Care is done at 75k, looks like ~ $1,000 for the next 3 services until 115k.

Going through my service records, it looks like I did the 65K service, but never the 55K. Guess I will bring spark plugs to the 75k check and have them do that. So back to my original question: Any idea which spark plugs a 2010 needs? Two different part #'s and prices

When I replaced the plugs in my 2011, from ECS I ordered Bosch Spark Plugs [Mfg Part # 0242236583-6 ECS Part # ES#2539204] and the Schwaben Ignition Service Tools [Mfg Part # IC-03KT ECS Part # ES#2999145]. It only took about an hour, and that's with needing to borrow a socket extension from the neighbor which involved 10 minutes or so of chatting first. You also need a3/8" torque wrench, but doing this yourself is very easy and will save about $400 worth of service labor.

The big DSG services are the 35k and every 45k after. The others are glorified oil changes with a belt every now and then an air or cabin filter from time to time both of which can Cesar changed in less than 1/2 hour. The belts are slightly harder but that 55k and 75k. Spark plugs every 55k.
I am only considering the audi care plus for the 75k because of the DSG.

The cost of these regular dealer services is a joke...

Change your filters (air and cabin) when they’re dirty.
Change your belts when they’re starting to get worn (5 years ish...)
Change your oil every 5000 to 7000km or twice a year.
Change the plugs every 100000km or so.
Check the car for leaks, burnt out bulbs, rust, worn items, etc and rotate the tires at each oil change...

Take it in to have the diff and DSG serviced at the prescribe mileage. Nothing else really requires a trip to Audi.

My car had just been “dealer serviced” when I bought it. The cabin filter was covered in mold (they obviously didn’t even look at it or turn the vents on). The cowl was packed with leaves - that’s an inspection item they must have “missed”.. The undertrays were completely packed with mud and sand - so they obviously didn’t remove them to check the state of the undercoating or anything else. The front brakes were garbage - no recommendation to fix those. But they put a pretty stamp in the owners guide which helps the resale value I guess.

It’s was only a few hundred bucks to take care of all of this (again/properly) in the comfort of my own driveway with the piece of mind that it was done thoroughly.

Point is: Don’t trust the dealer to take care of your car with these “scheduled services”. They make money on these by doing them as quickly as possible and with the cheapest labour possible. YMMV.

I never asked that question. I do know that the previous owner did had audi care and audi care plus. So that may be a possibility that I just never realized.

75k should be front and rear belts, cabin filter and oil change. DSG/Stronic gets fluid/filter if equipped... I would avoid ordering anything from ECS Tuning as the shit storm they're in right now. Europa parts or FCP Euro would be delivered in a day to CT... Too bad you guys aren't closer as I could save you tons!
