    Ngk bkr7eix-11

So, I'm in the middle of doing some routine maintenance, including a spark plug change. I found an old (unused) set of NGK Iridium's I had in storage form a previous car build so I planned on using them. When I pulled them out of the box, I realized they're BKR7EIX-11's.

Same plug as the BKR7EIX, but they have the "11" notation which means they come pre-gapped at 1.1mm (.043).

Can I safely gap these back down to .02X range, or is that risking excess stress to the tip?

I don't like bending the ground electrode to the point where its curved. I actually had really good results with the Bosch F5DP0R side fire plugs that JHM recommended which have a preset gap of .026.

I had crappy results with those NGK iridium plugs. I could never get to a gap where the engine ran well. But then went to those Autolite plugs and destroyed my engine.

I'm using the Bosch plugs now.

I find that bkr8eix have provided the best results in my 2.0T Allroad on stage 1/2 and K04. It’s recommended for K04 cars by apr and I can feel the difference and even see the difference in logs with checking the timing retard. Zero pull ever on those range 8s and some mild pull on range 7s. The 7s do not dissipate heat quick enough for a k04 car. I think it also depends on your tune (boost levels, timing advance) but you can’t go wrong with the bkr8eix at .024 -.026

The only reason I know that is because I run those side fires in my S4 because I got so damn tired of gapping the copper BK7REs down

I'll agree to this hands down.
I'm on my second set of NGK BKR8EIX [2668] gapped @ 0.024" for my APR Stage 1 (91oct / E85) and car never had a hiccup.

I just ended up buying a set of BKR7's from Napa this morning, so I wouldn't have to mess with the gap adjustment of the 11's.

i gapped mine BK7s, on stg 2, with APR recommended gap ( i think it was .026??) i cant remember, its on the APR website. Many times you have to re-gap the presets, they arent always perfect.

While typing this, i realize, i need to check my plugs, its been a while...

Of course, I never throw plugs in straight out of the box.

The old plugs I took out had expanded their gap out to ~.033 over the past 10k miles.

Replaced the stock plugs with NGK BKR8EIX.

    Stage 1 E85 24/7.

Car runs better, I was getting sputters at WOT in low rpm with the stock plugs. That stopped when I put on BKR8EIX.

Didn't even touch the gap, left it the way it was.
