    High mileage SQ5?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Wanted to get opinions on whether guys here would buy or even look at a used 2014 SQ5 with 61K+ miles on it? What would be some maintenance issues to look out for at that mileage? TIA

Mine is a 14 and is at 126k km (76k miles). As a daily driver, that's not a really high mileage and it still drives and feels great. Just make sure the servicing is all up to date and the price is right. Mileage isn't everything.

Bought my 2014 SQ with 42k miles now at 51k. No major issues thus far. Previous owner did the 5/15/25/35 Audi Care maintenance.

I took it in for 45k service at dealer as it was prepaid. Oil change at 50k at Indy shop. Plan on doing routine maintenance and oil changes every 5k.

If you call an Audi dealer and give the VIN they should be able to give you maintenance records if it was taken to a dealer.

Since when is 61k higher miles? The 3.0t has proven itself as a reliable motor. There are plenty of guys with s4s that have more miles than that at stage2 setups without issue. Find one that has been well maintained and you should be good.

66k , and runs better than when newer. I'm not sure what's the break in for this platform, but properly maintained it's just wonderful, keeps getting better(with a tune or so).

Still have ways to improve the driving dynamics(coilovers), so plenty of miles to actually enjoy and discover the car.

    Cheers,

    Bob

Bought my '13 Q5 last year with 61k. Now at 80k and it is better than ever.. Mind you, I've done quite a few upgrades in the past year.

The main thing I found that I needed at 75k along with new spark plugs, cabin filter, air filter, etc, was new brakes. The existing brakes weren't shot, but definitely had some hots spots on the rotors and some slight vibration under hard braking down a hill. I opted for a full brake job, including SS lines for a really nice improvement beyond stock.

Given proper maintenance, and no accidents in the future, I plan to keep this Q5 until 200k miles..

The SC 3.0T/ZF8 is the gem of the Audi family in my opinion. Its basically the most reliable drivetrain Audi has ever put out. They're continuing to prove to be insanely reliable with no major known flaws, even as people tune an extra 100hp in.

You're going to deal with common maintenance items like brakes, eventually shocks, etc. All pretty standard when you buy a 5yr old car out of warranty.

...so, they discontinue it in favor of a new, turbo one.

I am sure efficiency/emissions has something to do with it as well. I love the SC 3.0T, main reason I am moving into a SQ5 (and ZF>DSG in terms of reliability) but we all know this isnt the most fuel efficient engine out there, makes great power but definitely leaves more to the imagination for fuel economy. Maybe the new V6 TT can help in that regard, Euro rules get more strict every year.

    Two things:
    1. FFE!
2: It's a twin-scroll turbo, not a twin turbo. As far as I know, no one has extracted more power from them, at least not yet.

    cliff notes

The new 3.0T is the same 2,995cc of displacement
    -new combustion process(b cycle)
    -decreased fuel consumption
    - weighs 30lbs less
    - increased hp+tq
-separate cooling circuits to get engine & fluids up to operating temp as quickly as possible

Nice! I like the feedback... it’s a pretty good deal I found and the fact that I usually only buy CPO and under 30K miles was turning me away from this deal.

I've been there - it's very easy to be lured in by the CPO label. But ultimately it's a marketing tool well in favor of those on the other side of the desk.

Yep. Emission regulations take some of the blame, but for the most part German engineering is always innovating and pushing the envelope, for both performance and efficiency, which is why we keep getting new motors that are rarely given the time to mature to peak reliability.

Compare that to the JDM market, where a most V6s have roots back 15-20 years.

CPO is nice, but the reality is it will not payoff for a majority of people. As with any warranty, you're mostly paying for peace of mind and will never use it.

CPO only adds $1750.. That is how much the dealer will charge you to CPO your car (if it qualifies).. Yeah there is some markup, but not as much as people think...

Echoing What everyone else is saying here - 61k is nothing. I've been Stage 1 since 25k, Stage2+ since ~52k (getting hard to remember), drive it hard every day and currently at 81k. It's been drop dead reliable.

Still blows my mind... 450+hp, decent mpg, I throw all kind of sh!t in the thing with the kids, road trips, daily driver, and heading to the strip w/a few work buddies to screw off once Fall hits... it just does everything

You asked about maintenance issues: I'd say chances are at 61k it needs the supercharger belt and plugs changed (both due at 55k), but maybe you have maint records that show those were done. Otherwise, just buy and drive!

They offered to take off something like that when I bought. In hindsight, now at 74k with nothing more than routine maintenance I wish I had. After all, they already did the "fixes" to get it to CPO status. New tires and I want to say brakes.

It's no longer my daily driver, took it out for some smiles this weekend and missed it!

i'm at 82k miles and keep telling myself that the belt doesn't need to be changed! it'd be a $519 upgrade thru EPL and i was quoted an hr of labor by my local shop. this is the mechanic that quoted me 2hrs of labor once for brakes and some drivetrain mounts, got my "ok" to go ahead, and then shaved off an hr of labor b/c "the job didn't take that long." who does that?! =D

Just clipped this milestone earlier today - echoing others, no issues here; very happy with this ownership and looking forward to the next 100,000 mi

61 degrees? Can’t tell if I’d prefer that weather but sounds nice!

Bought my 2013 Q5 sline a year ago with 32k on it. Immediately changed suspension, sway bars, end links and added an EPL stg2 tune. This “Q” drives like a dream now and it’s sitting at 45000miles. No problem.
