    Class Action Lawsuit

This is in regards to the timing chain and tensioner failures. Just came across it but I'm sure it's out in the forums somewhere. I was already preparing myself to change my timing chain and tensioner. I wonder if they'll recall cars to change them like they did with the k03 turbos.

I'll happily take my $480.xx back from when I had mine replaced during stage II of the oil consumption fixes (parts only, no labor); now, if I could only get them to cover the engine replacement that followed stage II.

Just read this and it looks like they'll do what they did with the k03's. Awesome! Hopefully it happens soon.

From what I understood reading those links, they're making it seem like the time they wanted us to bring in our cars to give us new K03 turbos. We'll see though. Maybe contact them and tell us what happens?

I don't see why they would make an issue about modifications in regards to the chain and tensioner. But they are the dealership. Lol

My A4 has 111,000 miles, so am I getting nothing from this lawsuit? Audi should be replacing every tensioner and chain for free.

You're way passed the extended warranty for the turbo. It was 7 years or 77,000 miles.

Burning a quart every 500 miles, currently on version A of the tensioner and only 3K until I hit 100K. The ticking time bomb needs to go off...up to $6500 does not sound too bad.

    Sup guys!

I'd like to get your opinions on my specific case... If you think the claim would still apply or not.

I bought my car from a friend who repair total loss car. It was bumped in the rear and really nothing that bad actually. I've been running the vehicles for 2 years now without any problem... (aside of the %$#@!#% oil consumption). I was planning to eventually get my engine rebuild from a local place who does the big job for the oil consumption + chain tensioner but should I wait and see what's coming out with that claim? Do you think I would be eligible for the tensioner fix even tho the car used to be a total loss?

    hmmppff...

I picked up a copy of my invoice from 2015 last night from the dealer, while I only paid $48x.xx for parts, I could put that toward something else. Of course the SA said they were unaware of anything official yet. Oh well, the money was gone years ago, so any chance to get it back is worth the small time investment.

So given my current situation - and assuming this all goes through - what would you all do? I’m less than 4K from hitting the 100K mark and adding a quart every 500 miles. Audi already denied oil consumption fix. Doesn’t make sense to have my Indy shop do the timing work since I’ll still burn oil.

The lawsuit is not fully approved. You will have to wait like many others on here (and myself) until more information is released. You could email the law-firm and see what they say.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Let's enjoy the journey until one day we reach the destination.

My engine burns a quart every 600-800 miles. Im at 105K. Had it inspected this week to make sure it wasn't the turbo or oil separator, or some other fixable issue. Unfortunately, after an 1.5 hours looking around the tech said it's the piston rings. No timing chain repair or engine work for me. I'm gonna change the oil and see how long she lasts.

2014 Allroad motors can be found for 2k and have neither oil or tensioner issues and have more HP. Considering the full timing job is 1-2k, it seems like a no brainer to me. Or, just maybe, I can purchase a wrecked s4 and build the wagon Audi wont give us.

I don't believe the settlement has been finalized yet. If it is or does, I assume we will all be receiving settlement letters from Audi.

So... I’m at 91k miles. If i go get mine replaced before failure at an indy shop or dealer they will reimburse the money i spend? And i have to do this before 100k miles to get money back, correct?

    sub'ed.
I'm at 50K and would love to get everything replaced by the dealer.
I'm heavily modded though.. so we'll see.

According to the update in the original link: "UPDATE: On May 14, 2018, Volkswagen agreed to a settlement that would end a multidistrict litigation claiming that many vehicles’ engines have a timing chain tensioner that’s defective. Volkswagen will cover up to $6,500 in engine repairs and $2,000 in timing chain system repairs to putative Class Members."

How do i get in on this?
