    Oil in intercooler?

How much oil is normal for within the intercooler? I was finally able to take the screws holding the bottom of the bumper cover to the car as they were quite rusty and siezed. This was the final step in me being able to take the bumper completely off.
I have a boost leak somewhere, and was hoping taking the intercooler out would let me see if any of the ribs were punctured. Upon removing it though I noticed there was some oil collected on the bottom of the pipes going into the intercooler, and putting the intercooler onto it's side revealed a small puddle of oil coming out.

I started to think the turbo seals could be bad, allowing oil to get into the intercooler, but the intake system is stock, so if I remember correctly the PCV vents into the intake to be burnt. The car dosent smoke, and I havent had to top up the oil since I changed it early this year.
TL DR is the amount of oil in the intercooler in the below images normal?

It's normal that oil will go past the turbo journal bearing into the intake piping. Also, as you mentioned, the PCV system brings in oil vapors into the intake, so some of the oil is from that.

Yeah, a little bit of oil collecting in the bottom of the intercooler piping is normal. It can actually help you find your boost leaks, some times. If you see one side or corner of your intercooler has oily gunk built up on it, there's a good chance that the oil misting through the system is leaking out through the hole.... happened to me.

That seems like more than usual. I would ensure your crank case system functioning correctly. Has it been modified?

As far as I know its stock. only mods that I know of are a k04 and supporting mods like the intercooler, blow off valve and exhaust. When the engine is running, there is a bit of pressure in the crankcase as I can feel a bit of air coming out of the oil filler cap. It was not excessive so I assumed it was normal.

That amount seems somewhat excessive to me. Just curious, are you running a BOV with MAF? Your sig says "upgraded diverter valve" but a BOV is not a diverter valve, and generally not considered an upgrade.

The air coming out of the oil filler cap is normal. Its is the air being displaced from the pistons moving up and down. When you remove the cap it should dance around - not be sucked down, and not blow off.

Hopefully you dont have a BOV, especially on the stock tuning, as that would be an indication that the previous owner didnt know what he was doing. Is the K04 a genuine borg warner or knockoff?

My mistake, should have written diverter valve. It just makes similar noises to a BV so that popped into my head while I was writing that post.

I do believe it was a diverter valve, just miswrote for that post

Yes it does dance around if I undo the oil filler cap and leave it over the hole. Not anything excessive.

Since its still on a stock style cast manifold the turbo is kind of jammed down there and hard to see, and I'm new to these cars, so I'm not able to tell what is in the car right now. I can't really see the nameplate on the turbo, but was able to snag a photo of some of the numbers cast onto the compressor housing which were __04 101 506_
not sure if those numbers could distinguish it from being a knockoff or not.

I got the car late last year, and since I dont have a garage, its just recently that the weather up here has permitted me to start taking stuff apart to see what's actually in the car.
I'll have a photo of what the previous owner said was done to the car
