AC Lines - Yellow Seals/Caps and O Rings

I am in the process of replacing the AC compressor on my 1.8t.
At first, the existing hoses didn't fit into the new compressor, before I finally realized that the inlet manifold size was too small on the new compressor and was recommended to swap them.

However, before I realized it, I took the yellow cap/seal of the hose and tried to see if that would fit the new compressor - it didn't - and in the process chewed the yellow cap off.

Are these necessary? (I would imagine yes)
Are they replaceable? (I couldn't locate a PN)

Also, all of the replacement O-Rings are thinner than the originals - are they still ok to use?

Btw, this is the kit I used: https://www.discountacparts.com/buyn...it/60-81215_RK

There’s a good chance you bought the wrong compressor. There’s a vin split in the 03/04 model year. They look very similar. Found this out when replacing compressor on my buddies 04. His used the same compressor as the b7 a4.

Very possible but switching the manifold should be fine. My main question/concern is now about the yellow cap though.

I’m not sure what you mean by switching the manifold, but I know the compressors are not compatible. I’ve had both side by side and there are many small differences. If you have the wrong one it will not work. You’d need to verify issuing your vin. Also uses a different size serpentine belt.

Not sure about the yellow cap, but I wouldn’t go without it..

I had a similar problem last year when I worked on mine. There are definitely two different compressors. It took a lot of research and a couple of returns to finally get it right.

I also had the same problem with the damn yellow cap. I couldn't find those anywhere. I think I ended up buying a used line off of ebay just to get the damn cap. Such a bummer.

The manifold is the plate at the top with the hole for the smaller of the two hoses. It’s removable. Either way I did think I had in consideration the part number change but I bought another compressor just in case.
