Help, stripped caliper bolt. How do i remove?

Hi, I'm replacing my pads & rotors. I've had the vehicle for 4yrs and not sure when last this was ever done. While removing the passenger front bolt I stripped the head. See the picture. Any ideas how I can get this out? Remember there's is not a whole lot of wiggle room so not many tools can fit back there. Open to suggestions. Thanks.

Do you have a welder? You can weld a larger nut on there. Or hammer a slightly larger socket in after heating the bolt with a torch and hope it bites enough. Vice grips might work too if you can get it in there.

You might have to remove the whole knuckle to get at it.

I don't have those tools, this sucks so much. I got the new rotors & pads on all other wheels. I wonder if I can even drive like this to go get it fixed.

Did you loosen the bolt at all? If not the brake is in the same state before you started. If you don't have the tools to get it apart then snug up the stuff you loosened and take it to a shop any brake shop can deal with this.

Or go to get some tools and sweat it out. Does that bolt need an Allen head or a triple square? You'll probably need a set of socket, breaker bar or a 3/8" ratchet. An EZ out might get it out too if you can get it on there.

Either way you need to buy a new bolt before taking it out.

You should not need to remove the knuckle.

    Try this:
    1. Remove rotor + dust shield and unplug the pad wear sensor
    2. Remove the two hex bolts (roughly 11 and 5 oclock in your photo). This frees the caliper from knuckle.
    3. You may have enough play in the brake line to twist the caliper around and get to your stripped bolt with a bolt extractor. Take care not to let the caliper hand from just the brake line though.

    4. If not, clamp off the brake line where it is rubber, then disconnect it (that small nut just above your circled stripped bolt).
    5. Your caliper should now be completely free of the car and you can work on that stripped caliper slide pin on the bench.

I know some of the new caliper pins (what you've stripped) come with red threadlocker on it, so try a little heat, maybe.

Cant he remove the four large T55s which will cause the back half of the caliper to be able to slide off the guide pins? Then you can do what ever you want to the completely exposed pin?

if you dont have the tools though, and fear disconnecting a hydraulic brake line, then take it to a shop.
