    2006 A6 2.4 Avant - Parking Brake Malfunction

    Hello my friends.

It has been a few months already, my parking break stopped working and I receive a "Parking Brake Malfunction" every time I start the car.
I did a scan with Carista and got this 2 errors:

    Code:
    ABS
    Part #: 4F0910517K
    Coding: 4946 (decimal)
    Component: ESP 8.0 front
    Fault codes:
00473 Control Module for Electric Park- / Hand Brake (J540)

    Parking brake
    Part #: 4F0910801A
    Coding: 2031 (decimal)
    Component: EPB CA3C0040
    Fault codes:
    02443 Control head
I read that in some cases it was only a bad wire, that it was easy cleaned/replaced, do you think this might be the case or as the diagnosis says, it is really the control module ? How can I be sure ?
Does the other error(02443 Control head) will be fixed as I fix the first one ?

If I decide to change the module, I found some used ones here in Europe for around 60 euros, like this one, is it ok to put a used one ? Does anyone know where is it located ?

    Cheers!

The details are not enough to see what exactly is the problem, it’d be very helpful if you scan the car with VCDS/ ODIS/equivalent and get the details for each code (eg short to plus/etc). If not you can use the wiring diagram and indeed check the connections, but you’ll still be guessing what you’re looking for.

Apparently the module stays in the back, near the toolbox an jack, but I couldn't remove the toolbox, is there any catch ?
Is the module that black one in the back ?

OK, I guess this is good news.
When I tried to get to the module(and couldn't get) and just touched some wires and it worked again for 2 days.... then it stopped working, so I think it is some faulty wire indeed.
This weekend I`ll dismount everything and see which wire is the problem. Looks promissing :D
