    2007 A6 Won't start

Hey guys this is my very first post here, and it seems I am in quite the pickle. I recently purchased a second hand 2007 A6 Quattro. I've had it for almost two months, and on Monday when I went to leave for work I turned the key and got nothing. The radio comes on, but there is no engine activity at all. No starter click or any other obvious issue. I took the battery in to have it checked out hoping for an easy fix, but the battery is perfect. I've done a lot of digging, and this seems to be a fairly common issue with this model, or at least seems common based on the amount of responses I found online. It appears that this problem is the same as mine. I poked around a good bit after identifying that to see if I could find a solution I could implement myself instead of spending half of what I just spent on the car two months ago at the dealer. I found this video and other similar videos. I thought it was worth trying, but I was hoping to avoid buying a $300 cable if possible. So I ordered this tool on Amazon in hopes that it would work to clear the code. As you can see by my hopeful attempts to fix it I am trying to do so on a fairly tight budget. Has anyone experienced a similar issue, and how did you end up getting it corrected? I simply cannot afford to have the dealer bill me $2,000+ to get this fixed. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It sounds like the immobilizer issue. I'm also dealing with a no-start condition on my 2006 but my immobilizer is working. For your issue I've heard of a company that can fix the immobilizer itself. From Audi it's only available with the steering column assembly which makes it a $2000 job. I'll look through my saved links to see if I can find it.

One thread I found mentioned cutting the starter feedback signal to the immobilizer on the early cars like ours. The later C6 doesn't have this feedback and doesn't blow the immobilizer.

Hopefully you can get your issue sorted out soon as well. If you can find that link I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you think it would be the feedback from the starter even if I don't get dashboard lights when I turn the key?

    I finally found the link.

Halfway down a poster references a TSB related to the black/red wire. Unfortunately yours sounds like it was already corrupted. Perhaps calling these guys will get your immobilizer reprogrammed and back on the road.

I was working on my car today to try to get it mobile. I replaced both of the relays under the driver's side cowl with new ones and there was no change. Under the ECU on the passenger's side is a 373 relay and I think it controls the secondary air injection. I didn't have one of those but I don't think it would effect starting at all.

I also checked the immobilizer harness and I don't have a wire at pin 19 in the harness. No black/red wire cut and folded back either. I'm not sure where to go from here other than to try that shop that'll flash a working immobilizer.

There are a ton of reasons why a modern car will not fire and they mostly do with sensors. If you value your time, you'll get a VAG-COM cable or look for an alternative, at the very least.

The car will basically tell you what is wrong with it, if you can figure out how to 'talk' to it. (VCDS/Vag-com)

If I had to take a wild guess, I could be a cam position sensor.

I sort of piggybacked on OP's thread but my car does start. It'll fire up for about 3 seconds and then shut off indicating an immobilizer issue. I wish there was some way to just bypass the immobilizer entirely.

I was able to use the tool I bought to clear the fault code in my immobilizer. You may need to do that. It doesn't sound like our issues are the same, but the tool I bought is well worth having around at $55. It has access to pretty much everything VCDS does at a fraction of the cost of the cable.

shouldn't be the wiring inside at Access Start module under the steering column?
