2017 RS7 Burnt Oil Smell

I wanted to see if anyone else has a burnt oil smell after driving. The car is new to me. I got it with 1900(currently 3300) miles on it.

I am not sure if it has always been there and now that it is warmer it is more pronounced. I have not seen any leaks or drips on the anything. The oil level is full.

Any suggestions before I run it to the dealer would be great.

Occasionally I get a burnt oil smell, its hit and miss. Had the 55k service last week and had them look at it, they took it out for a spin but couldn't "re create" it. Checked for leaks, nothing there. Still smells.

Check the turbo coolant lines. Specially the middle coolant line which is the oil feed. It should be dry no oil stain on the turbo housing. Mine had a very small oil leak that I would smell occasionally.

I was unable to find anything. It is spotless in the engine bay.

I will take it to the dealer after I get back from vacation.

Any updates? Curious as my car also has a slight oil / burning smell but oil level is constant.

I sometimes got this as well, but now I think it's the cars around me that made that smell and not my car. I've tried to do all sort of driving when there's no car around and I can't repro the smell.

My S6 had a rear gearbox seal leak which gave it a strong oil smell when I parked the car in the garage.

I can reproduce the smell if I put the car in dynamic and run it hard right up to parking. But if I put it back on auto or comfort for a few minutes prior to parking... there's no smell.

I noticed this after i did a DSG service. I think the fluid I used (liquimoly) smells more than OEM fluid.

Not really a good practice. Sounds like your turbos are really hot when you are stopping the car. I see you looked in the engine bay, but did you remove the engine cover and check the turbo oil feed lines?

It actually was my exhaust melting the underbody coating. It was not aligned properly when they did the install and was very close. I took it to another reputable shop and they realigned everything and smell is gone.

Did they say where exactly it was touching? I have a similar issue and want to rule this out.

It was in the back of the car near a cross member as it was hitting that bar too.

Hmm - in my case the smell is coming from the front because it flows into the car (windows down) when it’s moving.

I could smell mine when I was stopped at a light or when parked.
