What do you think of this 2009 Audi TTS for a weekend car..? Anyone live in Maryland

Thinking about buying this TTS for a second car, maybe slap a tune on it. Full disclosure, I work for VW so I can get parts/labor pretty cheap which is the only reason I'd consider a car with this mileage. My DD is a tdi manual Golf and it's insanely boring to drive.

2009 TTS with 140k on the odometer looks to be near fully loaded. Any service issues related to these older units? Also, if anyone is in the area I would paypall you some money to check it out/

I like it. Although I have sold my l
Previous Audi’s when they got over 100k miles and that old due to the cost of keeping them running. For you it sounds like not an issue. I like the color. My wife almost picked up a 2013 model in that same color scheme last summer.

Looks like it's been sold. For anyone out there i've been trying get info on the engine and it seems like 2009 had a timing belt and the 2010+ models have a chain? There's not much info it seems on these cars.

I'm pretty sure that the MK2 TTS has a timing belt. I'm purchasing one this fall myself and am doing a lot of research to prepare for maintenance/mods. Please feel free to correct/enlighten me if I'm incorrect, but I thought that the regular MK2 TT uses a chain and the TTS uses a belt. After having horrible experiences with first gen vehicles, I refuse to purchase a 2009 TTS. I'll have more piece of mind in a 2010 or newer. There aren't a lot of quality ones on offer so I plan to fly/travel to purchase. I love it when I find at least 2 or 3 vehicles within 2 hours of each other that I can check out. I make it a mini-vacation and play the dealerships against each other.

This one is down the street from my house, it's super clean with low miles. Was recently inspected by a local VW/Audi shop called Dubwerx, they said it was in excellent condition. My only problem is I think the price is a little high

Haha. Small world. I just bought this car last weekend.

It really is a spectacular vehicle. I've never seen this color in any TT. To be perfectly honest, I can't say for sure if I've ever even seen a TTS around the Cincinnati area. To me, the price didn't seem unfair. On the higher end of the KBB estimate--but in bounds. And for the unique color and condition... seems all right to me.

I love driving it. I love looking at it. It really pulls through the midrange RPMs--noticeably more so than the MK7 GTI I traded in (which will be on sale at that dealership soon, in case you're interested ). That said... the MIL came on barely a week after purchasing it (Error codes P2008 P2015). It's related to the intake manifold runner.

Every so often, it has felt slightly sluggish off the line... but I attributed that to turbo lag. If the manifold issue is impacting performance, it's minor. And damn, the thing pulls.

I have an appointment at the dealer this Friday. Apparently, there was an extended warranty (120,000 miles or 10 years) on the manifolds with the TFSI engines. So I'm hoping they'll fix it under that. If not, I may have to drive it a month or so before I can afford a full manifold overhaul.

In any case... to address the OP's initial inquiry...

The TTS is a fantastic weekend driver. Or weekday driver. Or holidays. Early mornings. Late nights. Long lunches. Bank robberies. Alien invasions. All of the above...

You will enjoy the TTS. I have a 2009 coupe in Brilliant Red. It's scary fast, handling is incredible. I thought about a Stage 1 tune but decided to leave it unmolested stock. 95k on the odometer but elected to do timing belt/water pump so as to have a baseline. Recent service includes full Haldex and S-tronic fluids and filters. After selling my 911SC, this TTS crept into my life. The only problem is... I don't take the time to drive it often enough. If you find one good enough for you that you're comfortable with, recommend that you go for it.

Beautiful car. I've pondered stage 1 as well. But I concur--doesn't really need it. I'll be interested to see if getting the manifold issue corrected creates a noticeable difference in power. It takes my breathe away as is.

How much did the belt/pump work set you back? My car's coming up on 10 years... thinking I might do it in the near future.

You say that until you try a stage 1 tune. I used to have the only TTS in Cincy! Moved to KY last year, so now its all you. There is a white mk2 TTRS around that I've seen a few times, though. You're welcome to give mine a try if you're ever in the Lexington/Georgetown area.

Haha. Thanks, man. I'll let you know. Same if you're in Cincy--in case you're missing that stock TTS goodness.

But you're right. I can't knock it till I've tried it. My priority is reliability/longevity at this point... I think this is going to be my only car, for quite a while. That said, have you noticed any issues? Or extra stress on components? Also... I hear stage 1 improves the MPG. You think that's true?

In the meantime I'll keep an eye out for that RS...

Timing belt kit was $149. Labor (at an independent shop) was $400.

Well, I guess nothing is cheap. Audi dealer just quoted me $1500 to replace the manifold. They wouldn't cover it under the extended warranty. Trying to get the place I bought it from to cover it.

In other news, they said my timing belt looked okay. Won't need to worry about it for a while.

i love the tt for weekend and nice weather top down cruising. It performs very well, and is a joy to drive. the only thing i struggle with is the gps, entering a new address takes too long. Other than that I smile every time I take the car out

Having owned 13 Audis, I find the TTS to be one of the most versatile models in the line-up. It is my DD and I have 93k on the 2013. I have had NO issues with this car. Having bought it with CPO, I have the peace of mind that everything is covered for another 7k miles (bought it with 19k miles on it), and plan on keeping this for another 90k miles. The only mod I've done, and I did it early, is to replace OEM springs with MSS Sport Springs. Best thing for the ride, and it maintained the mag ride feature. I've recently replaced the OEM mag ride suspension with OEM parts from www.audiusaparts.com and also just did full OEM brake replacement with parts from them as well. It is good to have an independent mechanic to do this kind of service. Considering the stage 1 upon warranty expiration at 100k for better acceleration, quicker shifts, and presumably better MPGs -- though with the increased performance it may be hard to keep my foot out of it.
    2022 RS5 SB (now); 2018 RS5 coupe (now); 2018 TTS; 2013 A6 S-Line; 2013 TTS; 2008 A8 Sport (SWB); 2008 A6 4.2 S-Line; 2006 S4; 2001 A6 4.2 S-Line; 2001.5 S4 -- R.I.P., thanks to FedEx...; 1997 A6Q; 1994 90CS; 1993 100S; 1992 80; 1990 80; 1986 5000S -- yeah, 16 of 'em! Over 1M miles in Audis...(My wife has one ring, my cars have 4 each...)
