APR Stage 3+ - First Impressions & 0-60

[Six Speed Turbo]

So I have had the Stage 3+ kit just about a week now, so i figured I'd put up my initial impressions. The power is awesome (obviously), the power delivery is very linear, pulls like a great train to the 7200rpm redline. The driving characteristic are different from the IS38 (obviously) because the different sized turbo. Torque comes in later, not as spikey, but great to drive everyday. I posted a video of my thoughts, along with a quick 0-60 run in the video below. Enjoy and please give me your honest feedback.

I heard that howling, it is very typical of ball bearing bigger compressor turbos. I think that driving in sport mode is a great aid for spool up. Thanks for sharing brother!

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words. I try to be straight forward with how I feel, and down to earth. Just cause I drive an Audi doesn't mean I have to be a douche. lol. I am planning on going to the strip Sunday, if weather permits. Northern NY is pretty shifty with weather.

Stock portion beyond the APR mid pipe for now. I'm trying to hold off for the APR exhaust to complete the system. Went to a cars and coffee event locally, and everyone really likes the tone of the exhaust as is.

Yes, its basically plug and play, minus the small modification to install the port injection system. Quirks Performance wise is a no as of now....... but we had an issue with wiring for the fueling. Everything works, but my gas gauge reads empty, waiting on a resolution from APR tech support. As of now, just an annoyance filling up often to make sure I don't go empty.

Off topic, but what do you think of the apr springs? You are the only one I know of that has them. Ride quality in particular. Can you post some pictures of your car with the springs. Thanks

Yeah I'll post a pic when I get home today, or you can check out my IG page @slowhite__s3 which has plenty of pictures of my car. The car rides very close to the stock ride quality. It's just about an inch lower so it's not too harsh or obnoxious getting into certain driveways. I'm very pleased with my choice to get these springs, and the price is very competitive as well.

sold my friend the down pipe but did not include the catted section or any of the reducers to hook up to the factory exhaust

states that it was only the downpipe, however APR does not sell just the upper part or just the lower part. the downpipe is everything and not just the part that is hooked to the exhaust housing.

I bought the is38 from him. Excited to see what shows up. Don't worry he assured me he's an "honest military man". Maybe a mistake when packing it up. Any word from him.

I think that he probably forgot to put the cat section in the box, I wouldn't worry too much. At the same time I think it would be nice if you remove the SCAMMER wording from the post, just my .2c.

A cat is not considered a downpipe. It's a cat. The downpipe is the part after the cat. If he said it's the downpipe, then he gave you the correct part.

Call up apr and buy a dow pipe, I assure you that you'll get a cat and everything to attach it to a car, certainly not half a part (the rest costs $450) and he sold the downpipe for $600

I guess you don't have any common sense. The parts aren't connected in one piece. If it was then I would understand why you're so anal. But they're not connected, they're TWO SEPARATE parts and it says so in the title. Otherwise it would say "APR downpipe", but it says "APR downpipe with cat".
