P0011 (Camshaft Position Timing) Code Popping up every 2 months after Tensioner TSB

Back in January I took my B8.5 S4 in to have the tensioner TSB fixed. The day after getting the car back from repair, a CEL popped up with code P0016 (Engine Speed Sensor - Incorrect Correlation). Annoyed by this, I called the dealer and got the car back to them the following morning. They told me the issue was caused by a damaged sensor. They replaced the sensor and sent me on my way.

Fast forward 2 months to March. The car has been running flawlessly. Then, out of nowhere I get another CEL, P0011 (Camshaft Position Timing). The car was still running/idling perfectly. However, I wanted to make sure I got this resolved before my warranty expired at the end of March. So I flash back to stock and continued driving like normal until the CEL returned. But almost 3 weeks into driving and the car was still running perfectly fine with no CELs. My warranty was just days away from expiring and the CEL was still nowhere to be found. So I decided to go ahead and reflash my stage 2 tune again, thinking the CEL was just a fluke. Fast forward another 1.5 months with no issues. Then, yesterday, the CEL with code P0011 pops back up again. The car is still driving perfectly normal with no loss of power or other issues.

At this point I'm now out of warranty and annoyed by this CEL that pops up every 1.5-2 months. Due to the type of code, I think it's safe to assume this is related to the tensioner TSB. Especially since the car had absolutely no CELs or issues for the 1.5 years I owned the car, prior to the TSB repair.

So now I'm thinking my best option is to flash back to stock then drive the car and hope the CEL comes back while on the stock tune. Then I can take it into the dealer and hope they diagnose/fix the problem at a $0 or reduced cost since it's more than likely due to the work they did in January. However, it could take months for that damn CEL to return and technically I'm now out of warranty, so the dealer can (and probably will) tell me to go pound sand instead of fixing it at no cost to me. So now I'm wondering what other options I have to better diagnose this issue and get it fixed, without dealing with the dealer's inflated prices. I've Googled this P0011 code and have found drastically varying results. And all of these results seem to be with the 2.0T.

Anyway, I'm curious to hear if anyone else with a B8 or B8.5 S4 has encountered this particular code. And, if you have, what did you do to resolve the issue?

Can't provide any specific insight into the P0011 code but if it is connected, as you suspect, with the TSB work then you're covered for an additional 12 months or 12,000 miles from Jan. If it was me I'd be running the car with stock tune and hope it returns in the next couple of months.

That's great to know! In my experience, my dealer has actually been pretty awesome so I hope they'll do the right thing, assuming this is related to the TSB repair (which I think it is). I flashed back to the stock tune shortly after writing the OP. I'll hope to get lucky and get the CEL to pop back up sooner than later. But it's probably going to be a long couple of months at stock power levels. Oh well.

I get the same error on my C7-S6 every few months. I went through the same BS with getting the error to come back after flashing to stock. Anyway, I was able to log the error. Took to dealer at 29k on 4-21-16. They replaced N205 valve part 06E-109-257-S, seal ring and bolt under warranty. Flash and fast forward, I still get this error.

FWIW - When starting my car, I let it run a few minutes until idle RPM is below 1k. I then drive easy until RPM light goes above 6k. I only get this error every few months. When it happens, I get the message don't exceed 4k RPM. About 1 minute or so, it goes away and self resets. I have noticed that when my oil gauge is on the high side (near full), I don't get this often. If the oil gauge is below 50%, it occurs more often. I do change my oil every 5k with Liqui Moly.
