    I will be doing a thorough review of the Unitronic 1+ and subsequent tunes/upgrades

    car: 2018 Audi RS3

    Here are some results from when I was stock so that I had a benchmark

    Dyno results- Mustang Dyno
    Mods: CTS secondary cat deletes

    93 octane- 354hp/329tq
    e20 mix- 366hp/349tq

    Great results on the dyno today
    Mods: unitronic 1+ ecu tune, beta dsg tune, stm fmic, cts secondary cat deletes, 93 octane

    I Flashed the car at 4400 miles, currently have 6000 miles

    Ease of use- A+ , Very easy to flash at home, no issues with the software.

    Driveability- A+ this car drives just like stock when at partial throttle, it doesnt feel like they messed with the throttle maps down low to give a false sense of "power" . This is perfect for me as this is a daily driver and I like the smooth acceleration under partial throttle

    Power- A+ , As seen by the 0-60 times the car certainly has more power than stock. Once boost hits it takes off like a rocket! I expect 7-10mph higher traps in the 1/4 mile than when i was stock.

    fuel economy- A+ I know this car isnt meant for fuel economy, However I drive it daily and drive over 30k miles a year so good fuel economy is a plus!

    Ive been getting very good gas mileage lately! as high as 31 indicated on a 60 mile drive and the last tank i averaged 27mpg calculated



    The only downside I can see with tune right now is that i want more power, Stage 2 should be here shortly and I will buy it as soon as its available. I will continue to push Unitronic to offer ethanol tunes for this chassis :)


    Full Disclosure- I have had Unitronic on my s3, s4, and s6. I have formed a great relationship with Unitronic so some may think I am Biased. The truth is that I just want the car to be as fast as possible while remaining safe and having a smooth power band. Unitronic does exactly that :)

    I love these types of topics with tons of back to back information. I can't wait to see the results with the Stage I. What I found interesting is that you picked up some HP and tq on the E-20 mix. Most people with access to 91oct only have done a E-20 or E-25 mix just to get similar results to 93oct but what I find interesting is that you picked more power and torque on top of the 93oct which gives you hopes of making even more power on the Unitronic 93oct file.

    You should contact Unitronic and let them know about your gains, they might be able to twerk the tune and perhaps offer a E-25 map.

    i am working with them, unfortunately at this time the stage 1+ can not accomadate any Ethanol mixes. This is something i have been discussing with them though :)

    +1 pretty much all the way around. Really loved them on my previous platform. Flashed 1+ the day it became available for this platform and have put over 10k miles on it since. Nothing but impressed with Uni’s OEM+ approach to tuning. Only wish they would hurry up with the next round of tunes/mods.

    I will add, definitely look into an intercooler. Made a noticeable improvement for me in after having run without it and stage 1+ for awhile. And that was in the middle of winter:)

    Saxon, I have been following your post for a while and also some Unitronic and unitronic TTRS and RS3 owners. It appears that Unitronic posted their drag strip numbers and it was a big hit but it has been 6 months already and there is really not much more from them at this time. I like the simplicity of their tune but I was expecting more stuff from them already specially considering that their stage 1 was a big hit.

    I have less than 2 months before I pick my white RS3 from the factory on the European delivery and another 6-8 weeks after that to get it back here to Arizona so I am actively searching the market for a best all around tune. I am sure you wouldn't mind a stage 2 unitronic with perhaps an IROZ downpipe

    When you say that it can’t accomodate ethanol blends, what about those of us that have to deal with winter blend fuels? I’m pretty sure they mix in some ethanol here in CA.

    And am I understanding correctly that you picked up power by adding a splash of ethanol on the stock tune?

    E10 is no issue, the fueling on the current stage 1+ can't support much past that

    Yes 2 gallons of e85 and I picked up power on the stock tune

    Glad to hear it can accommodate 10% ethanol, as almost all 93 OCT here in FL is 10% ethanol. I have one station about 30 mins away that has 93 No ethanol. Lots of 89 OCT no ethanol for boat owners.

    the stock tune can accomadate the extra fuel needed for e20ish. e20 helps with any knock that you may have on the stock file

    They do and Unitronic will, it needs to be specifically tuned to run that much ethanol. The unitronic 1+ tune is only meant for 93. It's to be expected that it wouldnt work with much if any ethanol

    When the computer is in closed loop mode it is always adjusting fuel to meet the desired Air Fuel Ratio, regardless of the conditions. The big advantage adding ethanol is cooling and it contains oxygen. Here are a few data points:
    • On my drag car I was able to run with a full filled block with only cooling passages in the heads. It would take 15+ minutes of idling to get the engine up to temp.
    • On my Stage 1+ S4 (revo tune with the SPS module) I went from running 12.50@110 to 12.27@112 by adding 5 gallons of E85 and telling it that it had a tank of 110 octane.

    I imagine that on the RS3 the big gain came strictly from the extra cooling and oxygen, effectively becoming a small liquid intercooler.

    I wouldn't believe anything from apr until you see it. I have their APR tunes but I openly criticize them. They sell a lot of smoke

    Well the new inline 5 is direct and port injected so I don't think it is a problem, but I haven't got my car yet still either. So I can't confirm. The hybrid turbo rs3 APR has is running similar times as the iroz one, and I believe it's making about the same power on e85 as the iroz car (mid to low 10s, and ~600awhp)

    Thanks for your feedback!! We're working through development on a bunch including an Intercooler Upgrade, Downpipe, Midpipes, Turbo Inlet, Intake System, and more including Stage 2 ECU calibration and our TCU calibrations for the DQ500 DSG. We're working diligently, but certainly don't want to sacrifice performance and overall quality just to get a product on the market. Thanks for your patience; it'll be well worth the wait!

    These Uni threads are killing me. Killing me!!

    I’ve had my Rs3 since September and was all ready to flash Uni as soon as stage 1 was out and prepare for stage 2. Long story short problems with the car, audi is buying it back, new Rs3 coming end of summer so I can’t flash or do anything till I get it. 🤬🤬🤬

    Can you clarify your timeslip. Was that on 93 or was that with two gallons of E85 in the tank. I ask because I ran 12.09 at 112.47 with a 1.726 60' last fall completely stock.

    The fact that the torque curve is as flat as it is for as long as it is tells me that it's being held back by the factory tune.

We're working through development on a bunch including an Intercooler Upgrade, Downpipe, Midpipes, Turbo Inlet, Intake System, and more including Stage 2 ECU calibration and our TCU calibrations for the DQ500 DSG.     I cant speak for John, but this is something that I am making a BIG push for!

    I've offered to drive up to Canada with a trunk full of e85 to be a beta tester :)

    Yes but not a full E85 fuel map though. Very likely it would be a E-50. Straight E-85 requires a net 40% more fuel from the injectors so I am not sure if the stock fuel system can deliver that much. But that is only my opinion.

    went to the track today, not the best DA, but not the worst either

    the ps4s seem to be significantly stickier than the pirelli and the car almost bogs off the line since the lanes were so sticky today! Car launches great on the street with very little bogging

    Picked up 7/10ths in the 1/4 and 6 mph! Not bad for a flash thats currently on sale for under $1,000 with the cable (that you will get within a couple days too!)

    Very solid gains for just the tune. A downpipe will pick another 2, 3 or 4mph traps and shave probably another 3 or 4th of a second
