    TT RS Maximum Tire Width?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am currently running 265x30x20 on the OEM wheels without any issues and it handles and rides noticeably better and am wondering if anyone has tried anything even wider and if so did they encountered any problems.

I was not clear in that I am planning to buy 19x9.5 wheels that will accommodate 275 width tires. Will the TT RS accommodate this combination without rubbing?

I do understand the modding 'bling factor.' However in my own experience the worst mod's I've done over the years involved going with extra-wide tires. They significantly degrade the nimble response of sports cars/coupes, tending instead to 'railroad track', as well as the add'l weight. imho it would be a shame to degrade the superbly designed performance of the flagship TT for sake of such aesthetics. There, I've said my piece.

Ill have 275s mounted soon I dont think there will be too many issues at that width.
I planning to find a way to fit 300+ width tires on the car next year for track purposes.

For street use I don't think anything that wide is remotely necessary.

You have a good point and I appreciate your response. That said, I recently swapped out the 255 Advan rubber on my OEM 20" wheels for Michelin PS4 265s and the turn ins are much sharper and unlike the OEM rubber there is no hint of understeer. This has led me to consider at least 265 if not 275 rubber on a set of 19x9.5 VMR wheels I am considering to increase sidewall compliance in the turns as well as soften the ride. For me as a G junkie, it's not about looks but rather to increase the grip.

Does anyone have an experience running 19x10 rims on this car?
