    HPFP rubber hose replacement

I have a 2008 with the rubber hose not the banjo bolt. When I recently changed my cam follower the hose was frayed so i replaced it with standard 5/16 fuel hose. Further research and a fuel leak tells me this was the wrong approach. I assumed the rubber hose was on the low pressure side. Apparently it is on the high pressure side (1600 psi or so). What are the appropriate hose and clamps?

you can buy specific fuel hose clamps. I would question if you have the right size hose though. i doubt Germans use 5/16

Just buy the OEM hose. That’s not the high pressure side either. That’s the fuel inlet. I don’t think it would be very safe from factory if they used a rubber hose with standard spring clips if it were running 1000+ psi.

Like said above you probably have the wrong ID

VAG P/N 06F127511B for the hose. VAG P/N N90986501 for the clamps. Not a fan of that clamp P/N. If I recall, mine originally came with Oetiker clamps which are even more a pain in the ass. I currently use a rounded edge fuel hose clamp that is NOT a worm gear type, makes for changing the cam follower a little easier.

The pressure is actually around 6 bar which is 90 psi or so. I have also used the proper size 200 psi rated fuel injection hose. It works but the size match you have to use for it to not leak is a little smaller than the OEM hose and makes it hard to get off the barbed fitting.

Thanks for the quick replies. I was scratching my head about 1600 psi in rubber, but I am also trying to understand the pinhole leak in my one month old fuel hose. The reference to the hose on the high pressure side was from an ECS fuel pump replacement DIY. Anyway, i will see if the VW dealer in town has the hose tomorrow. I will reuse the rounded edge fuel hose clamps (not worm gear) that I have on there now.

Worm drive clamps or”jubilee clips” are NOT for fuel ever. With fuel clamps you pull two ears together with a screw pulling them together.

All done, new OEM hose, no leaks. And agreed, no worm clamps on fuel lines.
