    Speaker sizes for B7 A4 S-Line w/Bose?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I’m looking to replace all the stock speakers but am unsure what the sizes are. I have the Bose system with 2 speakers in each door, a long one on the rear panel behind the back seats and the triangle shaped speaker under the front windshield. I’ve asked around and can’t get consistent answers from ppl at the car audio shops.

I just want to know the exact sizes of the speakers. And will I need to have a stock amp/sub removed? I’m not sure where in the car they are located. Thanks

I'm not sure in the exact size but I'm about to remove my door panels to check next week. Should be 6.5s. Buy component sets so you can mount the tweeter where the factory one is. The center speaker in the front most people leave unhooked unless you get an amp with a center channel. As for the factory amp, it's in the right side of the trunk behind the carpet. Your stock stereo already sends low level signals to the factory amp so you don't need a hi lo converter or anything. Ps the factory deck sends a good signal so no need to upgrade. The factory amp powers all the speakers and sub on yours. You can either cut the left and right signal wires going into the amp and solder on rca plugs or do it behind the stereo. That eliminates running long aftermarket rca's unless your changing the deck. Also The factory remote turn on wire you can tap also. A4mods.com has all the info.

I'm removing my factory sub so more sound can come into the cab thru the hole. I'm leaving the factory amp in place but unplugging the harness and using the exsisting speaker wires, signals, and remote wires, so it's all in the trunk and no new stuff has to be ran. Just run a power wire to the trunk and reuse the factory wiring for everything else. It's super easy

See, this is where I get confused. I just came from an audio shop that said the speakers are 5.25.

And also on Crutchfield, they say lost my door speakers as 5.25 and 6.5. So which is it?

The center dash speaker is not even 2" it's likely about 1.5"

Tried to upgrade mine using a 3" speaker, no chance in hell it would fit. Managed to squeeze an Aura Whisper and then a Scanspeak 5F up there, both are only 2" speakers. It's empty since I sold my MS8 though.

OP as already posted, all 4 doors are 6.5 and you can fit a 2.5" depth speaker in there. Tweeters if you want to use factory mounting stick with a 1" tweeter.

Thanks for the info guys. So what typically have you done with the 8” sub that’s in the rear trunk lid? I don’t plan to add a new sub till later so should I just leave it in there wired to the amp?

And what of the stock amp? Should I bypass that and get an aftermarket one for the new speakers?

Btw I have a Pioneer NEX 7100 in the dash.

I removed the stock 8" sub and replaced it with Kicker CompRT 8" sub(300 W RMS, 2ohm) powered by kicker mono amp. Left the stock amp as it is.

And the kicker sub just sits in the trunk lid with no box?

I am considering either a 3-way component (6.5”; 3” and tweeter) which would require rebuilding the door panel, or a smaller 2-way component (5.25” and tweeter) which would plug right in. Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced, custom or semi-custom door panel for this car that would allow me to put in the larger speakers AND/OR visually allow me to show the new, beautiful speakers?

6.5" for sure. Front and back. I installed alpines with 1" tweets and a boxed 1x10". 5 channel amp.

I used to use vintage French made Focal 6.5" speakers so that statement has merit.

    Hi!

I wanted to find out how the installation went for you as I'm about to try to fit Focal Access AS3 3-way speakers into my 2006 A4 B7.

I have a 3" mid-range speaker and don't know how it will fit into my doors.
