C7 A6 front air bag light

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
About 2 weeks ago I had our daughter had 2 friends spend the night after their soccer game. So this ended up in them going home with us. My daughter 11 sat up front and the other 3 kids in the back seat. Soon as we took off my air bag light dinged on, then would ding back off the entire ride home. I just figured it was a weight issue and she wasn't heavy enough. Then next after noon I had to take her two friends home and we had the same issue again. Now the light stays on at the center console and is present in my HUD also. Anyone ever heard of this issue or have a solution to solving it? I don't plan on letting either kid sit up front again till they are bigger at this point. But I don't want my wife to get killed if we get in an accident and the airbag doesn't go off? Any solutions?

    Thank you

Are you able to scan the car to verify where the fault is in the system?

Was your car eligible for the passenger seat air bag recall? They replace some module/sensor in the seat itself and was a very widespread recall on our cars.

    This.

There is a recall that fixes that. Call the dealership. If they tell you no tell them yes. Or call another dealer.

I can scan it in the morning and find out. And I'll look into the recall also. Thank you for the help!

If you don't have the cooled seats your car is not eligible for the recall.

I had this same thing happen on my car, the dealership traced it down to the occupancy sensor which is a capacitive sheet used to coordinate the necessary force of the airbag. They then quoted me something like $2300 to replace the sheet. I found a whole seat for about $400 shipped on ebay, swapped the seat module from the old seat over to the new one and swapped the seats in about 20 min (only held in by 4 triple square bolts).

If theres a better solution I'm all ears because the sensor seems to be getting funky again after about a year (dash light will go on for 30 seconds after someone exits the passenger seat, then turn back off).

It was the passenger occupancy sensor, and i asked dealership and called Audi NA directly and they explicitly told me its for heated/cooled seats only. Could have changed since then, this was about 15 months ago.

I’m not sure but my 2013 Audi A6 2.0 premium plus with no cooled seats was under warranty last year

Yea if you're having this problem, i would def push the issue with your dealer as it was a mandated SAFETY recall due to it potentially impacting airbag operation.

My car is a 2014 A6 2.0, I have heated seats but not cooling seats? From what I read the recall was for 2012-2013 cars only? Is this correct?

I know this is an old threat but the airbag light just lit up in my car and when I pulled the code, it gave me the passenger occupancy sensor as the reason. My car is a 2014 a6 and it does have the cooled seats. When I put in the VIN however, it shows 0 open recalls. Anyone else able to get this done without a recall popping up for their car? Any advice is appreciated. I'd much rather not pay an arm and a leg to get this fixed.

Bringing this back from the dead.

Had my air bag light come on yesterday and went away today.
Pulled a scan and said that function was restricted due to the environment. Yesterday afternoon was extremely humid and hot.
Anyway, I think Audi monitors the humidity and maybe in cabin temp to determine whether or not it’s safe to deploy the air bags depending on conditions.

I just got the error message myself. Can I reset it, and see if it comes back?

My 16 S6 Air Bag light came on after my windows were tinted. What could have caused it?

Bring this thread back from the dead too. "AirBag" light came on my dash as well and I have the code "B121400" restriction due to environment. Gonna perform a zero weight adaptation and give it about 3 days. IF that doesn't fix it I'll just swap the seat with a junkyard one for $300. Any updates on people who have had this problem before?

Is it possible to install a 2014+ P/S seat in my 2012 A6? Seems the only affected models are the 2012 and 2013.
