    S6 Sport Seats into A6 3.0 C7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone swap the sport seats into A6? I have located Sport Seats from a 2017 S6 and wanted to understand what's involved.

    Specifically...

FROM: 2016 A6 3.0 with base leather seats, memory, 4-way lumbar, heating
TO: Sport seats, leather, memory, lumbar, heating

Is the wiring harness the same?
Is there component protection on the sport seats? (thought maybe not since they don't really integrate with MMI like the Contour Seats do)

I believe it was just recently posted in another thread that seats do indeed have component protection regardless of integration with MMI. But sorry don't know for sure.

Straight plug n play. Just swap the memory seat module over from under the seat to your original one first so CP doesn't get activated.

Awesome, thanks for quick reply. I'm new to this... So, swap the memory module from my current seat to the sport seat and all is good? Wiring harness is exactly the same then? Since passenger seat doesn't have memory nothing to worry about them with CP?

Does the same go for the sport s line seats? I've tried the seats in the S6, haven't a go with the s line sport, as they are not sold over here. Recommendation?

Im not sure what range of seats you have over your side of the pond but here its 4 iirc. SE, S-Line, Comfort seats (massage and vent etc) and super sport seats.
You will be fine fitting the super sport or sport seats in yours as you already have the memory seats fitted. You will have more work to do if you decide on fitting the massage and ventilated ones which there is another thread already open for it.
A7 seats also fit the A6 platform and also the D4 A8 ones do. A7 in the back also fit but not A8 ones. So try to stick to A6 to A6 and you will be good to go

Thanks for the help...I have s line seats being swapped this week. Memory, heat, lumbar and electric adjust look all the same. The s line seats are much more bolstered and have the thigh extension. Felt much better sitting in them albeit, they were just on the floor right now.
The base seats in the us really stink.

Getting issue with passenger seat.. Says there is no occupancy sensor. Do European seats not have an occupancy sensor?

Partially successful.. Got driver's seat in by swapping belt buckles. Passenger seat had to put back stock seat as the s line European seat reported no communication with a occupancy sensor. Looking for some guidance from the experts here.

Where did you get them from? are you sure they are not from a rhd car? German car seats would have fitted with out any issue as you're both lhd.

They came from Germany, near border with Poland. Initially they both threw ground faults on the belts, so that's why I swapped my oem buckle latches which fixed that.. No idea why but saw it mentioned in other swaps. Passenger seat still indicated that there was no passenger occupancy sensor present. I can't seem to confirm that German seats use the pressure sensor vs. just a seat belt latch?

Anyone? Is my only option to rip apart the original seats and dig out the pod sensor and try to fit it in the new seat? Anyone know if there's a bypass adapter?

The S line super sport seats are sold in the US...IIRC started in 2017 MY in the A6/A7 competition. <edit> I see you have the euro s line sport seat, not super sport, I stand corrected, that seat did not come to the states.

Ha! Me too. I think Morski might be able to assist with this one. I've removed the occ sensor from my OE seat and thought to add it to the euro sport seat. Have not tried it yet. Morski, pick up the red emergency phone...

I think you need to reset the seat occupancy sensor module, check this here.... http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...Airbag_Audi_10

Not sure. Had mine at an Audi dealer and the code they got was that no occupancy sensor module detected at all. Now, they were also getting the seat buckle latch grounds fault too. Perhaps if they had resolved the buckle latch issue with the buckle swap then the occupancy sensor would be detected?
Got the impression that the occupancy sensor is different between the seats brought into the us and the rest of the world. If you look up parts, the sensor in the us spec seats it's an internal part of the cushion, I.e. you cannot buy the sensor alone. From what I can tell you can buy the sensor separately in European spec seats. The diagram even looks different.
    Looking for your thoughts.

Its the same here. its part of the cushion and not available on it own. Then i suggest you look at the wiring and trace the pins on each seat on the yellow connector as its all air bag related. By trace i mean refer to diagrams and probe them.

Ok, will do. Hard to believe Audi would engineer two different systems. Any insight into the buckle latch issue.. That may send some insight into the occupancy sensor. Why would the German seat buckle latch throw a grounds fault and the us ones are fine.. Different resistance or different pinouts.. Guess I'll answer that question myself shortly

Keep in mind, this is something a dealer tech will not want to give the attention it deserves unless that person is really interested in figuring it out.

Follow Morski's lead. In 20 years on Audi boards, there are few with his expertise in mods to Audi systems.

Dont probe or try to measure resistances whilst the seat is connected to the airbag system on the car side. Its not advisable and too risky. Compare your current colours you have on the new seat and also the old seat. Do they match/ same location in each connector etc?

I think you need to look at wiring first.. Ive had a quick look and there are areas for american market and non-american with regards to the seat belt buckle and occu sensor.

Absolutely, I will follow morski suggestions and post back findings.. Appreciate all the help.
FWIW, had to take it to dealer to get the component protection removed on the memory module anyhow and they charged peanuts to swap seats.. Like you said they weren't going to spend lots of time figuring more out. They did however listen to me and swap buckle latches.
At least the important person in the car has a good seat!!

Ok, did some digging... Since the OEM passenger seat is still in car I was able to have a comparison between the OEM/us spec driver's and German s-line passenger. Green and yellow are the same. For the most part the red connector is how I would expect, extra wires for the memory on the driver's side. I think it comes down to the black.. Looks like the occupancy sensor and the seat belt run into the black connector. Brown for ground, green with blue stripe for occupancy, green with brown for belt? Anyone have a wiring diagram to confirm? It's a C7 s-line and C7 2016 base.

Going back to the original occupancy sensor issue; do you have a 2 pin blue connector under the seat attached tot he bottom of the black metal base frame? This is the connector that comes from the occu sensor mat.

Try at allegro.pl and you will find these kind of seats to very good prices. Just search for Audi A6 4G fotele and you will get seats for S6 and RS6 as well.

So fotele (Polish) means armchairs ?

So opening this page in Chrome one can access the details translated from Polish to English: http://allegro.pl/audi-a6-c7-4g-fote...385142708.html

Curious if anyone know the stock seat weight? Just wondering if the super sport seats offered any weight savings.
