Not into vanity plates, but curious to see what creative suggestions emerge. Self-deprecating humor is always a nice touch in such things.

Hopefully there will be no pretentious suggestions that would denigrate those of us with "mere" Q5s, regardless of how quick we may be. I tend to go the high horsepower sleeper route, personally.

I've never had a vanity plate, but ever since a bought my first Outback (and this could apply to the Q as well) I've wanted to do some play on the Family Truckster from Vacation. Thought about FTRUXTA, FTRKSTR, etc., but never felt it worked quite well enough to bother with the process.

I prefer the sleeper route as well. First thing I did was debadge the car haha. Hoping for some fun suggestions having to do with being perceived as a “dad car” or a sleeper. Anything that uses SQ is pretty cool too but obviously limited options

Mine is not as cool (I didn't get the creative gene). It just says "whine". A lot of people ask me why I wrote whine on my license plate. I say "because supercharger noises". Car people get it while non car people look at me confused and think there is something terribly wrong with my car as I whip it around.

One of the only good things about living in Illinois! -- Black license plates available for the White Sox... Is that a route you have available in Maryland? Maybe not a vanity plate, but a really low key plate that cleans things up?

Unfortunately not, we have blue bay plates and orange farm plates then the standard Maryland flag plate.

FWIW... The vanity plates I find cool are the ones that speak about the person, not the car. Spend that $$ on something you'll move along with you. In my case, not a plate, but my license plate frame - "Women and rhythm section first" - has been with me since my first car in 1989. (It's a Jaco Pastorius quote.)

Since you didn't ask...heh.... Vanity plates I despise are ones that are blatant in their obvious link to the vehicle. For example, I once detailed a '67 Corvette with a 327 engine. Along with badging which told the world it was a Corvette with a 327 engine, it wore the license plate 327Vett, with a license plate frame that read, "1967 327 Corvette." I did manage to save my smart-assed feedback until after I got paid.

I debadge all of my cars so luckily don’t have any of that repetitive obvious stuff. My old plate frame just had the S4 logo and because I was debadged looked good and made thenrear end symmetrical I just last night gave that plate frame to a buddy who has an S4 badge and instantly made fun of him for having a badge and plate frame that said S4 so I can definitely agree with you on that aspect. As for the plates, in Maryland you can transfer them over to any car so I can definitely keep it with me should I choose something not vehicle specific. It’s also only $50 unlike some states who charge an insane amount.

Unfortunately I sold my B8 SQ5 and pickup a B9 SQ5. And without aftermarket exhaust it does not sound like "WAAAA" LOL Just waiting for my DMV appointment to transfer plates to it.

Yeah... I'm on the same boat if I decide get a new SUV. No new SUV out there, besides Jag and Land Rover, has a supercharger.

In Mississippi we have only the single rear plate, so people can get creative in front without having to pony up for a true vanity plate.

If the 327 Corvette guy ever got an SQ5, I'd want to sneak a fake vanity plate on front when detailing the car:

    ASSQ5

It would be fun to see how many days he'd drive around before noticing.

Returning to the subject, saw this one on another board, similar to one suggestion above:

i have a bit of a thing for vanity plates and have had numerous over the years as I moved from state to state. I've always tried to keep them fun or personal in some way:

    On my old WRX
    - TREESKI
    - SKISVT
    - BELIAL

At one point, our 2 cars had:

    - HMMMMM (WRX)
    - MMHMMM (S2k)

...when parked together somewhere if my wife and I both drove, these got a lot of fun looks

    - LOOPHLE (after getting a few too many tickets and quickly moving my registration to a new state that didn't recognize those tickets)

    Now, we have:

    - SIRACHA (wife's SQ5)
    - UGH-TRFC (my RS5)
    - ZIG-ZAG (S2k)

plates are really only limited to your creativity and the letters allowed by the state!

So something funny happened the other week... This guy from the car club asked me what the "AD" on my plate meant. I said "Army something". He said "I thought it was Whine And Dine". I thought that was really clever! IMAG2346.jpg
