Rebuild or replace engine? 2.0t bpy

Hey guys. So long story short, I bought a 08 audi b7 quattro 6spd with a 2.0t bpy. Has 117k on it, bought it out of state 4hrs away, it made it back fine then the oil cooler or gasket shot shit. Replaced both then i had a massive oil leak near oil filter housing, first thing i did was pull the oil filter and it was completely collapsed. replaced filter and added oil.. not a leak since. Still had my oil pressure light come on and I ended up dropping the pan to find the clogged pick up tube along with the seized balance shafts and the snapped bolt on balancer side. I dropped 2 connecting rod caps and the bearings looked normal for 117k. Now I bought a new pump and replaced pick up tube with a new one. Still had the oil pressure light. I had 5w30 in it so I bought mobil1 0w40 and went to drain that 5w30 and found excessive metal shavings. I believe it's time to pull the motor. Now my question is...

Should I get my current engine rebuilt or swap in a used engine? I found a few engines price range around 200-400$. All the engines i've found are from automatics. If I go ahead and just put a used motor, of course I'd replace pick up tube and all timing components along with some gaskets. I've read that I'd have to swap all my sensors from my current motor to the replacement.. but makes no sense.. Because if I where to replace all sensors with new sensors it should still start.. I just need some input.

I'd replace it with one you know was working, or make a known working one. I'd be wary of anything that has seized. If you can find a special edition/DTM (engine BUL), it has some stronger internals. See this link: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...ne-do-you-have

Btw, BPY is in VWs or an A3. If you have an 08, you more than likely have a BWT.

I know it's stamped in there somewhere, but I forget where. If this was Friday, I could tell you, but I just sold the engine.

It should be on a sticker on your timing belt cover
Its also on a bracket on top of the engine somewhere

Automatic tiptronic will not into a manual. The crank is different. You will be able to use a automatic cvt engine thou.

So if I can't find one out of a cvt or manual would rebuilding my current motor be the best route? Still runs and drives.. sounds solid but I'm not going to push my luck and drive it

Honestly, the best way to answer your question is to pull your current motor, strip it down and examine it for improper wear. If it is serviceable, use it. If not, get a used motor.

This. Where are you finding 2.0 fsi engines for so cheap? I'll buy a couple at that price. I paid $250 for an engine with a blown oil pump and a seized head to rebuild for my car. From what I've seen, you can't get a working fsi motor for less than about $1500 from most places and that's generally for a high mile one. Are you sure you are looking at the correct engines? I don't even think 1.8s are that cheap.
