2017 OEM all weather floor mats.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
We bought the car last year in the summer and it came with two sets of floor mats. My wife hated the all weather mates and it was summer so we decide to put them away. Well I just stumbled upon them and they still look ugly lol. They are so much different then the S4 all weather mats that I have to ask why they have the raised nobby's like a mud tire tread. Are there different all weather mats for the Q5?

2017 OEM all weather floor mats.

Only other options are aftermarket, afaik. I actually dig the OEM ones. I think they look fine, and I like that they’re a softer rubber than most of the rigid aftermarket options.

All our Audi's have had the OEM rubber mats and have been great and held up awesome. I like the deeper channels and knobs... keeps my shoes dry on those winter and spring days lol.

Function over form I suppose, but I too give a nod to the OEM mats. You may want to peek at the WeatherTech floor liners. They're a bit more subtle, at least inside the extended lip.

Wife says her heals get caught, that's another reason we removed them. I might try the Weather Tech option, thanks.

They are meant to catch the snow/slush/water. The OEM looks nice, but they aren't attractive.

I first got OEM all weather rubber mats for my B7 A4 many years ago, and since then, have never looked back. Now they are pretty much the first "mod" on every car we buy.
An older colleague who drives a Lexus even commented on how good they were and asked if they came with the Q5.
One thing I don't like about the Q5 design though, is that the mats cannot be pinned/anchored to the floor, so I have to keep realigning them periodically, especially after I've had passengers in the back seat.

Total echo...my experience mirrors yours. When I bought my '06 A4 Avant I was amazed at the fit, quality, and sweet snap-in/out functionality of the mats. I still think very highly of them, but miss the ability to keep them in place. FWIW, the original A/W mats on my wife's '07 Lexus were wonderful. After the unintended acceleration recall, the dealer's service department snatched up the fronts and destroyed them before we could get them back. The new ones, pretty much like all other non-Audi OEM ones I've seen, are crap.

This discussion about floor mats just reminded me of a funny incident that happened when my Q was just a day or two old. You guys would get it, but it's hard to explain car-related OCDs to non-car people.

A friend's wife who was tagging along with me and my wife for lunch was pi$$ed when I refused to let her ride in my new car because I hadn't ordered the new floor mats yet . We took the wife's allroad instead, as if even adults couldn't be trusted to not ruin the carpet floor (which btw was covered with factory carpet mats plus temp. paper mats from the dealership) during a 2-mile drive! In my defense though, it was winter, and there was some snow and salt on the ground

Back to the topic, OP, I think the design is harmless yet functional. If you don't like it, have you considered luxury diamond-stitched mats like these? I'm sure you can find more vendors on Amazon, Google or eBay.

    http://www.manicci.com

    https://www.amazon.com/TotalLiner-Cu.../dp/B01N47HRTO

I think they are a bit much for my 'lowly' Q5, but would consider them more seriously if I had an S/RS/6/7/8 or any of the other luxury land yachts.

The new ones pin down (which is really nice). I like the pin concept. My GMC truck had a circle and a split tab pin would push through. Little rocks would get stuck in the tab grove, and you'd have to dig them out to get the mats out.

I recently went through the same decision process. In the end, I chose the WeatherTech's and couldn't be happier. Loved my B8.5 S4's "Audi Guard" mats and hated the ones that came in the package for the SQ5. I like the extended length and sides of the WeatherTech mats and the lack of groves which was the pain point on the S4. They also cover about half of the dead pedal so that also helps to keep things clean. Last, you can clean them with a rag or paper towel if you like to remove footprints from your mats.

I've been using these for the last year and a half. Decent quality and they have the pin down tabs to match the factory pins. They look really clean and subtle. Color matches the sub floor carpet, door panels, dash and seats very nicely.

You know what annoys me about the softer rubber OEM all weather mats that I've experienced? It always rubs off on the outsole/heel of my shoes and leaves gray/black marks - like if I wear any type of sneaker with a white outsole.

I ordered weathertech for my SQ, hopefully they're harder material which won't transfer the color. And if not, it's no different than I was already used to experiencing. #firstworldproblems

I love the OEM all-season mats. Our last generation SQ5 only said Q5 on them. At least for 2018 they now actually say SQ5!

Very happy with my OEM all-season "rubber" mats. I like the deep water channels and knobs. I realize they do not make a fashion statement, or at least not a positive one, but they work well. We have a lot of rain here and I often have to park in areas that are off pavement.

It also lets me keep the carpeted mats that also came with the car in pristine condition. I can use them when appearance matters and save them from daily wear and tear, extending their life.

Didn't mind the OEM knobby rubber mats, but my car wash place ended up forgetting to put my driver side one back in after they cleaned it (video footage actually showed they tossed it into another car) so they gave me $100 giftcard and bought me weathertech's for my troubles. I've always been a fan of weathertech's stuff so no complaints on this end.

OEM mats are pretty much useless compared to WeatherTech. Look pretty good and keep water/snow etc off of carpet. OEM.....not so much.

Yes, the oem ones. Do a better job of hiding dirt and easier to spray out compared to the carpet mats.

I just leave the rubber ones in all year round. I tried the weathertech ones but found their rubber to be too slippery under my feet lol...

My goodness this entire conversation is comical. Only car guys would have an entire thread spanning a few days on car mats.
