New digital audio interface for Audis MY15 and later

    All,

For anyone that might be interested in modifying their sound system using aftermarket amplifiers, digital signal processor, etc...

The issue with creating a custom sound system for MY15 and later Audis is that they use a newer MOST150 fiberoptic system, and nobody in the aftermarket world makes a digital interface for us, until now.

Nav-TV has a brand new digital interface that is supposed to start shipping this week; https://navtv.com/products/NTV-KIT860/zen-v.html

Although it's expensive, ($1299!) there is currently no other option on the market that allows us to get rid of the factory amp and still maintain all functionality of the MMI.

This allows us to ditch the factory amp and provide a pure digital signal to a DSP and then to whatever aftermarket amps we want for our sound systems.

For earlier model years, the Mobridge DA-1 and the Audison Bit-DMI are far less expensive and work well with similar functionality.

I've been hunting around for something like this for the past year, so I'm pretty psyched about it.

This is good news, I was talking with my local stereo guy who's been my go to guy for over 10 years and the only one I will ever let touch my vehicles when it comes to electronics and this is going to make his job a lot easier. Do you know if this is for only post facelift MY15? I have a pre facelift MY15.

It is only for cars that have the most150 fiber optic network- to my knowledge, that started with Audi in Sep2015. You can tell by using a pry tool on the face of your climate controls- you’ll then see a single bolt holding the MMI in place- just slide the MMI out a few inches- if there is a label on top that says MIB2, then you have the newer network. If you don’t, you have the older network, but the good news is that you can use either the Audison bit-DMI or the Mobridge DA-1 to do the same thing at about half the cost

You should state MY (model year), not manufacturing date. At least in the US, post-facelift cars are MY 2016, with many built in 2015.

Correct, but Audi has been less than forthcoming on exactly when they switched the Most fiber optic network- some answers I’ve gotten from them avoided stating the model year. Regardless, it’s easy to check. Manufacture date is in the front driver’s side door sill, and you can easily check which MMI you have using the steps outlined above

So, I got this Zen-V for my 2016 S6 MMI2 with Bose, a couple of weeks ago, along with a full audio upgrade.

Updated it, installed it... and... not working. It is not turning on as supposed to, the car is completely mute. I have contacted NAV TV with a request for support, I hope they come up with a solution fast enough.
