    B8.5 A5 NON S-Line Quad Tip Diffuser/Valance

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all, in the past year I've looked extensively for a quad tip diffuser solution for NON S-Line B8.5 A5's and finally found something. The only other possible solution was to buy an S5/S-Line rear bumper to run a true quad tip diffuser. I came across the following seller on eBay and took the risk and ordered one.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/S5-Style-Re...72.m2749.l2649

I ordered on Mar 13, 2018, and my item arrived this Saturday (Mar 31, 2018) packaged VERY well. No issues there. Here are some pictures of the diffuser upon arrival. I will be installing this weekend and fitting it with quad 90mm staggered tips. I will post some updates on fitment and final pictures on the car! I know some others were looking for a quad tip solution for this application.

Got the diffuser fitted this weekend. Attached are some pictures. Very happy with the final result! Filled it out with dual 3.5" tips on each side. Don't mind the dirty car :)

As long as you're comfortable with some slight modification, the diffuser is worth it as this is the only quad tip diffuser that exists for non S Line B8.5 A5's.

To fit the diffuser, we had to dremel down pretty much all of the clips and trim them a bit. Other than that, the actual diffuser fit perfect and the carbon fiber looks great for something out of China.

I will be applying sealant and wax this weekend to be safe.

Thank you! Someone actually bought this thing. I've seen it for sale on AliExpress but never wanted to pull the trigger for obvious reasons.

How hard was the install including the modifications needed to fit? X/10

It looks fantastic. Do you think it's possible to make it fit without power tools?

Thanks! I am beyond happy with it. The carbon fiber is laid incredibly well for something out of China. I had my buddy who does body work help with the install and he said it was very nice compared to some of the stuff he has seen from China.

As far as the install, I would honestly say maybe a 3/10 for level of difficulty... You'll definitely want 2 people to install it.

The actual diffuser did not need trimmed at all. It fits like a glove. The issues were the tabs.

They are way too thick, so you need to dremel/sand them all down significantly to fit the slots. Beyond that, there were places of the tabs that didn't fit right on the sides that had to be trimmed a bit, and some of the tabs were too wide. All minor things but you'd at least need a dremel or some way to sand things down to get this to fit.

Beyond that, the tabs underneath the car come un-drilled so you have to make holes for those and the tabs are a little off position.

All minor things, but as long as you have someone to help and assist, it's not bad. Just takes patience. We fitted it about 6-7 times just seeing where it wasn't fitting, etc. and modifying as we went.

They are 3.5" (or 90mm) tips.

Also, here's some more pictures of the diffuser now after about 2 months of ownership. Everything has held up fine. No cracks or discoloring yet. Car has changed a bit more since then, too.

I just got one of these in the mail and it is incredibly warped / the tabs are nothing short of a nightmare. Was yours this poor of quality, and did you do anything to address the whiteness at the upper left / right edge (near the seam of the bumper) where the part was released from the mold?

I did not have the issue of it being warped significantly. The only fitment issue with the one I received was highlighted in that picture where the edge is exposed slightly. I have not attempted to do anything so made sure to post a picture. As for the tabs, those were the largest battle. I mentioned a few posts up that they are too large and had to be modified to fit.

All in all, 4 months of ownership, it has held up well. No discoloring, and no cracks. It hasn't come loose at all. It definitely does take some work to make it fit, and you should be able to pull it in enough to the shape of the bumper. There's the slight edge around the top, but nothing too extreme. That picture was taken with Flash, so it's exaggerated a bit as well. Just be careful when forming it to the bumper and don't apply too much pressure as CF isn't as flexible as the ABS plastic.

However, I like this one more. The equipment is much newer. Both accept Credit/Debit too which is a huge plus to me.

I don't know how you got your tips to clear the diffuser, the OEM tips are the main cause of my fitment issues with the diffuser. Despite not having any clips to speak of on the left hand side to hold it in place the part is too thick near the outlets to run stock exhaust tips let alone the AWE set that came with my exhaust. I spent about 5 hours attempting to make it work with no success.

Over all the build quality is garbage even for carbon from china. That's awseome you made it work fro your setup but I personally will be attempting to get some of my cash back fro this POS.

The almost complete lack of support for non s-line diffusers is why I finally just decided to source S5 bumpers. It's way more expensive, but at least I give myself more options. Heck, even the base S5 diffuser is a massive improvement over the non s-line.
