What colour RS5 Brake Calipers?

Hi all,

My brake calipers are now very dull and I feel they need to be painted to bring life back into them.

I'm leaning towards painting them red but would welcome suggestions.

I like red depending on the colour of the car, but there's a few people that have gone Porsche hybrid bright fluorescent green and I think it looks great with the right coloured car, like a black white or silver car.

Although quite ubiquitous, red is pretty sweet. Mine are Audi Tornado Red.

with a white car, the contrast of most any primary color will be amplified... it will draw the viewer's eye straight to the calipers & away from the car's fluid lines....

bronze or grey will blend in a more subtle way, but not add any 'theme' to the final product.

white will be dirty in 10 nano seconds after its cleaned...... but.....
...if your wiling it use low-dust ceramic pads & added a black audi ring decal & then had them coated with a release agent like the ceramic coatings now available, they would clean up V easily & make a sophisticated statement, imho....

I've used Bilberry alloy wheel cleaner in the past. But I've just been getting my car hand washed from my local for the past couple of years.

Some food for thought. My only concern is that white will get dirty too easily.

I might add, in typical Audi fashion, their painted calipers are almost a matte paint, not glossy. You must use non abrasive cleaners. Treat them as you would the paint on body panels. You will get better results.

BTW, I want to change the color on my black RS caliper too but it seems like a big nightmare to have this done! First the caliper need to rebuild and the rebuild kit for the 8 piston RS caliper is expensive and then my mechanic not willing to have my car stay on his hoist for a few weeks in order to waiting my calipers send to rebuild and powder coat.

Also, the rear calipers on my car are very small.

Thanks for the photos. It looks decent to me on a white car but I reckon it looks a lot lot nicer on a black car.

I'm still leaning towards red as I think it would look better on a white car.

Personally, get them powder coated vs painted. Will last longer and look better.

Thanks, but my wagon is deep sea blue LOL. But the blue caliper really pop on dark color car.
Here is my black S5 with black RS caliper. Once I found out a solution how to store my car for a month without brake then I will powder coat the calipers to metallic red or copper color like those on GTR

I like more subtle colors for mechanical parts and have always been a fan of the anodized gun metal, slightly greenish tint Brembo used on many of their motorcycle and race calipers.

I also like these actually. I'd go for a more neutral color with enough contrast that it stands out and then go red on the lettering.


Doubt it'd be feasible but the nickel color of the high end Brembo calipers is really nice. Just screams unobtanium bling.

First of all powdercoat them. Youll thank me later. It can be done without rebuilding the calipers and is not a whole lot more expensive. Just got mine done in red

Really! everyone tell me rebuild is a must to powdercoat calipers! And I still dunno is to rebuild require new piston or just replace the seal is good enough

I think they can technically do it without rebuild, but the heat is the issue with the seals and such. The other issue is the sandblasting that gets sand everywhere and not sure (I do not do powder coating) how they would prevent sand particles without total cleaning to get all grains of sand out of every crack. Personally, I think if done correctly, you need to tear down.

Audi seals are not very expensive and are easy to work on...

OK, I like darker blues for the calipers, but also think of a gold color on the darker side, NOT bright yellow gold.
