    general windshield chip repair

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but i figured theres a good chance a fellow s4 owner would have some experience with window chips. I used a permatex DIY repair kit and afterwords this is the result. Am i supposed to be able to see the cracks like that after the repair? I followed the directions the best i could but it looks like the resin didnt make it into the cracks fully. The center is repaired and doesnt look bad but the spider web of cracks doesnt look like it was filled. If this is normal then I dont care. As long as the cracks cant spread. But if i didnt do a good job, im I stuck now or can a professional still fix this (without replacing the whole windshield)

edit: sorry for the zoomed in pic, but the crack is about the size of a quarter

once you try and fix it yourself, the pro glass repair places can not fix it. the resin you put there will not permit their better stuff from getting all the way in. that is too big to fill anyway. you need a new glass

I got a chip in my newly replaced windshield and had the company come back and fix it.
I can still see the crack even after they fixed it.
It’s more about stopping the cracks from growing than anything else. So I’m sure you are fine.

Most insurance Companies will pay for a glass chip repair with no money out of your pocket. When the technician comes ,he can tell you whether the windshield is repairable or not. If not, you will only be out your deductible. Mine was $100 and I had to do 3 in one month. But if you do have them replace your windshields. INSIST that they use OEM glass .I made that mistake with Safelite and they originally didn't use OEM glass. The new windshield has severe distortion. Safelite guarantees your satisfaction and I made them replace it with OEM glass. No extra charge to me. 3 weeks later, another stone crack in almost the same location. OEM glass this time as well. Don't fool around with a windshield. It is a structural part of the car and if not properly installed or compromised, your airbags may not work as designed in an accident.
