    JC Sportline diffuser

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, I am really talking a gamble on this manufacturer. I already ordered to trunk spoiler and front splitter and they have not arrived yet, maybe next week. I was going to ask if anyone had experience with their rear diffuser?

Here is what I am looking at: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-13-17-...19.m1438.l2649

I believe that of all the cheap/"no-name" companies JC Sportline is one of the only few decent ones. It'll likely fit fine, once it's installed, but maybe require a little modding like tapping out screw holes for under neath the bumper or something of the sorts.

Also note, the exhaust opening on that is much larger than most other diffusers. Most are only around 7.5" or so. That diffuser will make aftermarket tips looks smaller.

I haven’t had their diffuser but I’ve had their RS5 style grille. Quality and fitment was fine. Quality was a tad flimsier but fitment no issues.

I believe it's the same exact diffuser that is sold by carbon imports (probably just the same manufacturer). I've seen several people run this who seem to think it's fine.

I have this diffuser right now. My fitment wasnt perfect, but I got it in with a few self tappers. Looks great once its in.

Shipping took almost twice as long as they estimated for me though.

Did you remove the rear bumper cover to install the diffuser? I am not looking forward to the install and I usually do 95% of the work on my car, myself. I wonder what a shop would charge to install this?

Yes, I did it myself - bumper comes off easy. Recommend doing it yourself

I bought their diffuser about 1.5 weeks ago and it still hasen't shipped. I was also looking at the front lip but shipping seems rather slow from them. I guess if quality and fitmit are good it will be worth the wait.

Well, I have the front bumper cover removal down cold, done it so many times! But the rear, I have no idea, I was looking for a sticky DIY on the removal, but can't find one? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I got the splitter and spoiler yesterday, still in box, will not unpack until tomorrow when I have to get it in my car and take home (shipped to my work address). Ordered the diffuser this morning, estimated delivery date is 4/4. Will let you know when it arrives.

I don't think you need to remove the bumper to change diffusers. I know you don't on the B8's, unless something changed for the B8.5's

I don't have any idea but I thought that I saw that it was easier or recommended?

I doubt it's easier, IIRC you have to take out the tail lights and stuff?

I didn't take my bumper off when I swapped mine, was 1 screw on each end and 3 in the middle if I remember correctly.

I had to remove my bumper to get my Carbon Imports diffuser on. It was impossible to fit otherwise. The only reason removing my bumper was so hard is because one of the torx bolts that holds on a hinge assembly was stripped out, so it took me over an hour just to remove that bolt.

1 screw on each side, 3 screws on the bottom, remove tail lights and remove the 10mm bolts through one of the holes behind the tail light (use a magnet so you don't drop it), remove a couple bolts in the rear fender, loosen the two hinge assembly bolts, and then pull the bumper off.

Yep, I recall Nave from CI saying the version 1 didn't require removal. Version 2 did, and the version 2 is the one that looks eerily similar to this JC Sportline 1.

I think it's worth the time to at least try installing the JC one without removing the entire bumper, because you're going to be removing the valance anyway. To remove the valance just remove the 2 small screws from the sides and 3 larger screws from the middle. Give it a good tug, and the valance is removed. When you're trying to install the new diffuser though, just don't push too hard on it or you'll crack it. If it's not going to pop in place with relative ease, it's likely not going to go in place at all without removing the bumper.

OK, well, at the very least, this thread has prepared me for the possibility that I "may" have to remove the bumper cover to install this diffuser. It should arrive next Wednesday so perhaps over that weekend I can get it installed and let you all know how it goes. My thanks to everyone that gave me clues on how to remove the stock diffuser and bumper cover. Still need to google a video online if there is one, so I am more comfortable with the process.

    Agreed HazeMyth

I believe all (with the exception of some of the euro sourced) diffusers originate in Asia (China). More specifically, from AliExpress. And that vendors in North American are just reselling. Some are modding in house for better fitment prior to sale but most don't and add a little disclaimer like ModBargains does which requires professional install because they are no where near a plug and play install. But rather require extensive modding just to make fit half-ass.
    Modbargains Disclaimer:
"NOTE: Like all Carbon Fiber and FRP products on the market, this product must be test fitted & prepped before installing it. Often, slight modifications are required such as trimming, sanding, filing, or smoothing the surface in order to get best fitment and appearance. This is NOT an OEM product, fitment will NOT always be perfect straight out of the box. We recommend having this product installed by a company that has experience working with AFTERMARKET body kit pieces, not a standard collision repair center that only works on insurance claims."
