Looking for advice on which tune I should go for, had APR Stage 2 on my GTI which was awesome. Only problem with it was keep rubber on my from 2 tires and wheel hop. Not APRs fault tho. Looking at tuning my A4 and while my gut tells me to go w APR again ( have APR CAI & DP ) I feel I should at least explore the option of other tunes. Which have you guys liked best? Most seem very comparable as far as results. I do like IE & Unitronics ability to Flash myself only because I like to DIY and it will make me feel like I did!

I would go with IE. I have their products and love them. I haven’t seen better customer service, and they don’t give anything to the public unless it’s been tried & tested a million times, you won’t regret it

I’ve been planning on APR for a while but IE looks pretty good!! Being able to change back to stock is a pretty good feature.

Is their tune new?? I don’t recall them having a B8 tune a year or so ago.

It’s been around for a while. I first went IE Stage 1 then paid $50 for the upgrade to their Stage 2 tune and now they are custom tuning my K04. Great customer service.

I think they have a 10% off sale going on now

HA! I got booted out of several FB groups because I posted similar responses to find the information on your own before asking.

Had APR Stg 2, loved it. No wheel hop with Quattro
    Now APR K04...even better!!

Go straight to K04 if you can.

Ability to tune yourself through the OBDII and it's something different.

It's basically 3x the cost of most one shot ecu tunes though. For that price a custom dyno tune is possible

Sure...minus the ability to flash myself at my convenience...which is what I like about the handheld units. I tried a dynotune with a local shop here in Germany where Audi is domestic and it was nowhere near as good as my BSR Stage I. I've never tried APR or any other mainstream tune...but I'm REALLY happy with BSR. Just my 2cents

Thanks for the input. While I like the ability to flash back to stock, I am going to go back to APR. The performance results are better and having the APR DP gets me the free Stage 2 upgrade so additional cost is minimal. Also, didn’t see anything on a 93 octane file with IE. I could assume if I ran it performance would increase but you know what they say about assuming... you end up bitter and lonely like elscotto80 and BrewDude. Thanks to all who helped with my decision making, your the reason I keep coming to this forum for help. Hope one day I can return the favor.

From everything I've seen, IE probably offers a custom 93 octane tune if you request it.

I asked but looks like they do have 93 file, also it looks like I would need to get an aftermarket Intercooler also w IE. Stacking up for APR.

Stage 2 boost levels are where you’re probably going to want an intercooler anyway. You don’t need to buy IE’s FMIC. APR recommends one too.

Have just purchased the IE 91 octane tune. They did inform me that it only works on US ecu’s and that as I am shipping this to NZ they hope I have a US ecu.

Can anyone shed some light onto how I know what I have? Tuning here is nearly impossible, so having a system that allows for bone ECU remapping is very much preferable.

    Do you have VCDS?

There are differences between NA (North America) and ROW (Rest of World) vehicles.
