    follow these steps:

If you are removing chrome trim from the door, you need to fully remove the window assembly out of door, and drill out the clips holding the Chrome strip to the door.

If you are removing the Black trim from door, you only need to lift the window frame off enough so the rubber strip can come off. They dont have the clips like the chrome, they have some adhesive but pulls off easily. However they get deformed when pulling so you cant reuse them.

I'd look at plasti-dipping those chrome pieces on the B7 and then saving up to get them wrapped.
That is what I am doing.
But maybe you want the chrome on the B6?...

You do realize the black molding is a chrome molding underneath with paint/rubber coating over it??Heating it would probably cause it to come over pretty easy.

I will be helping a friend swap the door shells on his S4 and obviously he wants to retain his chrome molding. He is getting replacement doors from an A4, so everything needs to be swapped over. :(

Has anyone done this peeling black trim before and can confirm it is chrome underneath and that it's possible to do this? I can imagine that any heating of the area to peel off the black coating would melt or distort rubber seals near it, so I'm not too keen on that idea.

Ththe rubber is full rubber, at least for meX, not sure what he’s talking about being chrome underneath. The rubber strip is held on by adhesive to the door , where the chrome strip has plastic plugs that needs to be drilled through, but when reassembling those plastic plugs don’t need to be replaced. PM me for more info, I’ve done this for my car (rubber to chrome)

My black window trim is peeling in some spots pretty bad and yes it is chrome underneath. The black material is very hard and crumbles easily. Probably from sun exposure and time. Might be easy with a heat gun, although I haven't tried.
