Audi rs4 b7 2jz engine swap

Morning all
I know a lot of you will disagree, but I blew my engine on my rs4. I was thinking of doing a 2jz swap, and keep the awd?

While I'm a diehard V8 guy, I think this could be a cool project however I don't know if there's enough room in the engine bay. A straight 6 cylinder will be longer than the V8 that's in there and if you look now, there's not really much if any extra room to work with.

If you're going to tackle a project, good luck. Keep us posted, but make sure you do lots of research before you sink too much money into this.

This pic is with the 2jz in place and radiator fitted, still needs a few adjustments on the bumper but I'm not to worried about it for now

Who made the adapter plate for engine to trans?? I’ve been looking to maybe try something different under the hood and keep it AWD. Wonder if these plates have come down in price from my last searches.

I couldn't make a adaptor plate because of the length of the engine it was past the grill so I cut the bellhousing, and gained 60mm, I hade no other choice

Wonderful! And you welded the 2jz housing to the Audi trans? Is it cast aluminum or steel? I have never thought of this. 60 mm would be huge. I think I was 40 mm into the rad w plate, losing 30 mm for plate and then 60 mm would make huge amount of space. Could perhaps retain AC much easier plus engine back a bit further I think it might make overall balance different.

If you have any specs on how you adapted the trans flange I’m certainly interested in how you did this.

I bought a dubbel plate aftermarket clutch and had a custom flywheel made. I measured them together and allow for the fork and release bearing, I then got a 2jz block and machined the stock 2jz bellhousing that I just had the ring. I machined the remaining of the Rs4 transmission, then lined them up using the main shaft. That is in short.
