Repair front crash sensor broken wire into connector

I have the 01739 front crash sensor code and sure enough, the purple wire to the yellow connector is broken (Audi have the worst wiring of any machine I've seen, including Chinese junk). The inspection is due so it's motivating me to fix it : )

Could someone give me instructions on how to dismantle the yellow connector without breaking anything so I can solder the wire back to the metal lug in the connector? I have some small picks etc. that I can use to pry and move latches but want to know if there are any tricks.

I had the same issues a few yrs ago. I bought a used sensor from ebay that had a connector and some length a wire. I cut off the old one off and soldered the new one in.

They make special pin removal tools that can be had for 2 bucks on ebay. You stick the end of the tool into the end of the connector, usually on top and bottom of the pin, and then you can just pull the pin out the back side. The backside probably has some sort of rubber seal that needs to be pulled out.

Repair front crash sensor broken wire into connector

I just did this repair like 2 weeks ago. Snip the yellow wire in half and insert each end into the connector. Use a wire seal on each one. Red wire goes to flat side wire, purple to the other. I used butt connectors but you could also solder. Then heat shrink the connection and you are good to go!

Note the original wires were extra crispy and didn’t play nice with my wire strippers. I just used an exacto blade to carefully remove enough wire sheath to get a solid connection.

Thanks guys, Vette is sending me a plug with wires attached so I'll solder that one in, but I've also ordered the tool so I can fix the other side when it inevitably breaks...
