P0242 Code Turbocharger Boost Sensor B Circuit High

    Hey guys,

I'm a long time reader and love the great info/advice. I am having this code come up and after doing some research, I can not find any info on it specific to my A4, I have an 2006 A4 B7. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. It looks like it's just a bad sensor but I am not sure what sensor it is referring to or where it is located on the car.

    Symptoms
Car is very slow to pull and hard to start in the cold. It does not stall at all. It has lost it's torque and takes a little bit to get going. On the highway it runs fine but not as peepy as it used to be.

I'm also thinking it maybe the diverter valve. I got the car used a little over a year ago so I am not sure if this has or has not been changed.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

How many miles are on the car? how long have you owned it? Has the diverter valve ever been replaced?

That looks to be a generic code not specific to the B7 2.0t. I suggest using a scanner capable of pulling Audi and VW codes.
If it is a problem with the boost sensor, it's located between the intercooler and throttle body.

Sorry for the late reply and thank you for the help. I replaced the sensor and the code went away. Now I have the dreaded p0089 code coming up. I've replaced the PCV, N80, LPFP, and the fuel filter and nothing. It hesitates on first gear but once it is running it rides well. I checked the CAM follower and it looked good but I did not replace it. I am running out of ideas and have to get an emission test soon. Any ideas or something I may have missed?

It may be an issue with the high pressure fuel pump itself. What is the lpfp duty cycle reading at idle? What does your low fuel pressure reading show?

I have no way of checking the duty cycle. Unless you know of an Iphone ap that can get that info? I don't have a VAG, but do have a wireless ODB I connect to.

Unfortunately without a proper scanner you're just pissing in the wind.
There are still a number of possibilities of what the issue could be. Some of which are very expensive.
Post up in your region asking if anyone has VAG that you can scan your car with.
Measuring blocks 106.2 is mainly what we need.
You can try replacing the low fuel pressure sensor as a gamble (G410)
But if you replaced the lpfp with something other than OEM, that could be the issue. Could also be s faulty lpfp controller, hpfp, etc...

Thank you so much for the help. I've posted locally and will also post on Facebook. Maybe someone can help me get that information.
