Putting it out there.... looking to custom fit a virtual cockpit cluster into my 2016 s3.

Search the forum - there is a huge thread on this out there somewhere. Might be on another dedicated Audi forum, I don't recall.

The basics:
You will need to have your MMI "unlocked" for this and apparently only Russians know how to do this and you have to ship it out. Reports of parts not returning home.

You would need to upgrade your steering wheel/S.W. electronics as well.

You also need to swap out the screen unit in the upper dash to one that matches the same year as the VC.

I wanted to do this because I had 2 audi leases going back (2015 S3 and S5) and I LOVE my S3, but wanted the VC so the question was - do i trade up (i will get a KILLER deal with 2 leases coming back) or do i retrofit my s3 with the VC.

After research, you're looking at $6k-$8k to retrofit. That's a great down for a newer version of the car...

So you know, I decided to keep the 15 S3, give them the S5 (worst... year... ever... for the S5), and wait for the next version that has full autopilot.

I figure it this way - car tech is on FIRE right now. If I change based on available tech, I'll be buying a new car every 6-12 months. I can't be doing that, so I figure wait for the BIG tech release and enjoy my "oh so analog" 2015 Audi.... lol.

I do hope Audi comes fast with the autopilot.... that Model 3 from Tesla is calling....

Fyi, I'm in So Cal, so anything that will handle traffic FOR ME, I'm taking fast.

Cool.....I hope more ppl get this done. I am pretty sure that just by replacing the cluster that most of it functions will work out of the box.
