    rs7 Exhaust options

Hey guys, i'm itching to game some more sound over the stock performance exhaust its just a little to tame for my liking. Looking for something not obnoxious but want more sound and lower snap/crackly pops on deceleration Though I've watched just about every youtube clip and read as much information as possible i'm still undecided. The Milltek non res seems to be the best low cost option (if that is such a thing) but I really think its to undefined and muddy. The Akrapovic sounds really defined but a little quiet also its 10k. Other options are custom or just adding APR downpipes which might make it sounds ideal unfortunately I don't know the end results. Then there is removal of mid cats and or rear suit case mufflers. Out of all the exhaust systems that is out of this world and crazy sounding was this one, cant tell if they are using the stock mufflers or something else.

Then there is removal of both mid cats and suite case muffler. would love to hear this one in person

Really? I've heard all kinds of RS7 exhaust setups and, even stock, I'd never call it "tame"--that's BMW's territory (did I just say that). Hehe.

I like the volume of mine as-is I confess and, having heard many different exhaust setups now, I don't think the Akra does anything for volume... it changes the pitch for sure, though.

Ping madyspop over PM; he's got a guy that handles custom fab of exhausts who also has an RS7 of his own.

I've heard very little positive feedback about their hardware. After numerous chats on the topic, my overall takeaway on that front is a big fat "no". For software, a huge thumbs up.

Miltek sounds nice with stock Downpipes it’s deep v8 sound, difference big if you go from Audi sport exhaust to Miltek none resonated exhaust

I've thought of this too, seems to give a good bit of difference in sound as well as performance increase. Believe they use one of the best high flow cats available as well. There is a few video clip's with this setup, might be a great first move.

Most all the video's i've heard the milltek non resonated just seems to loud and burpy or loose sounding. Strange they don't make a resonated version thinking it would sound better imo.

They do make resonated version. Just most people are getting the non-res one (including me). I will say if you have chance, hear it the person. The video clip will be hard to tell the actual sound.

I'll toss my $.02 in here:

I had a full Miltek, non-res setup with the valved mufflers:
Start up when cold it was LOUD. I loved it the first time I heard it. My neighbors joked that they knew every single morning when I was leaving the house. And this is 3 houses down. It was fun at car shows and in parking lots to start the car as it guaranteed a response from anyone near by.

It sounds very similar to the first video you posted when in Dynamic Mode with the valves open. It poped and backfired and burbled and was fun for a few months. Over time, I noticed that it droned while commuting and I got tired of the noisy startup. I even found that I was using full throttle less to avoid opening the mufflers. While it makes me feel old to say it, I just didn't buy this car for that kind of noise. I have Rx7 rotaries for that. After 4 months of ownership, I was actively looking to add a resonator or cated down-pipes when the car was hit and totaled.

My new Rs7 has an APR downpipe and a (super ghetto) removed middle resonator from the factory exhaust. The start-up volume is SUBSTANTIALLY reduced but noticeable louder than factory. There is no drone while driving but it does make a fair bit more noise than the factory setup. There isn't anything exotic about the exhaust note on my current setup and I will replace it with something. I have not heard Akra in person but intend to.

Agreed. It's a great balance especially with the Cete exhaust valve control module.

Seems like catted apr down pipe might be the right move.

Trying to find more videos of the APR downpipes and stock sports exhaust, found this one sounds pretty damn good.
But starting to think I like the sound of the akrapovic more so, it seems more exotic imo. 10k is a little much for an exhaust imo it should include dp for that cost.

Well, if you did not plan to get the Akrapovic from Audi, you can check with some aftermarket shops. I got a quote around $7,300 shipped to my door. The APR DP is $1,999, plus labor. You could get those two combined under 10k

Yep resonated version exist, but it’s a waste of money, if you really want performance and nice sound buy only none resonated version Miltek, also I can add that you can’t decide watching video clips to buy exhaust, you need to hear it in real life, and in real life Miltek transforms rs from quiet car to a monster
