Brake pads! Dash light came on

I recently had a "Break pads!" warning sign come on. Is it set for 40k miles? I'm currently at 40700 miles and also the dealer did an inspection. They had written 5mm on the fronts and 7mm on the rears. I played it safe and took off a wheel off the front and rear, seems to be same as their inspection.

Do I need to change the brakes in the near future, within 5k miles? Can I reset it on MMI or VCDS, then see if it comes back on?

There is no MMI setting for brake pads, or cancellation of the warning light.

Wear indicators are hard coded into you pads. If the light is on, it’s either time for new pads, or you have a broken connector wire. I’d change. In the next 1000 miles.

Change your pads and rotors, then call it a day. You'll be saving yourself back and forth b.s. to save a couple hundo. You can get replacement sets off eBay with ware sensors for 400 bucks.

The brake pad warning sensors are on the inner left side pads. If you use ACC, it's probably the left rear inner pad that's worn. The sensor is a simple loop of wire that wears away when the pad is around 3mm thick. You might get another 5000 miles out of it depending on how much you use the cruise control. You do have time to research your options but if you plan on keeping your old rotors, don't take too long.

Maybe one of you guys can help out wasnt there a guy on here that was doing rotors and pads packages? I think he was doing custom orders also. (drilled, slotted, ect.) I just though of that while reading this.

    That would be Adam’s Rotors.

That's weird, but even weirder is what you said next. Does ACC brake with just the left rear wheel???? I was under the impression braking was done by the ABS module, which uses all 4 wheels. I don't like ACC, but apparently this stupid car doesn't have regular cruise. At least dealer doesn't know how to disable ACC, which all my other cars with it can do. Tried everything and it's only ACC. If it only brakes with the left rear tire, will only use cruise when there're no cars in sight. Odd.
