What aspect ratio for 20" wheels

I have a set of 20" x 9" wheels. I have been running 235/30 tires. This is the right fit in terms of keeping the overall outer diameter of the tire close to my factory 18" wheel setup and keeping the speed and odometer accurate. I have been seeing a few bends after hitting potholes. Do any of you guys with 20 inch wheels run a 35 aspect ratio? This would throw my speed and odometer off since the new OD would be 26.5" but the ride quality would likely improve.

Any issues with fit? Can we reprogram our tire diameter?

a 9" wide wheel should really be on a 255 section or 245 section.... you are running a "Stretched" tire set up on a 20" wheel which is probably why you have a few bends. Not to say it wouldn't happen with a 255, but your wheel would be better protected over the sidewalls.

275 30s are best IMO. Wider looks better and provides better traction and the sidewal provides enough for comfort and just enough rubber to protect the lip of the wheel.

appreciate the input. going wider seems to make more sense. The tires are definitely stretched now. the only advantage is that it allows me to go lower with no rub. I'm sure a 245 tire will fit a 9" wide wheel but will a 255? 255mm is 10".

255 fits it for sure, I’m running 9.5 and that stretches the tire so 9 would be perfect imo

Allroad here, so 255/35/20 is the proper diameter for me, but I have this size mounted on both a 9" with RS5 wheels for summer and 8.5" A6 wheel for winter. The tire is certainly not too wide for either wheel though the 35 height would be too tall for you.

I do not rub at all on my 275 30s continental dws lowered on stasis touring suspension which is about the drop of eibach or h&r springs, with stasis 20x9 wheels et48. Offset makes a big diff rubbing.

My wheels are Verde Parallex 20x9 with a 32mm offset. I'm definitely going to go with a 255. I found this nice offset calculator with a visual guide. The 275s with a 48et will sit relative similar to a 255 tire on a 32et wheel. I have Solowerks coilovers so I can always go a little higher if I have any rub. here's the calculator if anyone wants to check it out. https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/
