    DNA Motoring Exhaust?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
MY 1.8T has 232K miles and well the exhaust has seen better days.. Over the Holidays I was searching around to see if I could find something performance oriented and not break the bank considering the mileage on my A4. Came across what looks like a borla knock off for $388 shipped. It looked decent and figured what the hell it can't be any worse than what's on the car now (rusted out leaky factory system). I do have a tech tonics tuning downpipe made to match up to the factory system so it should fit nicely to the new system since it's designed to fit the factory down pipe.

Anyways it shows up and it looks halfway decent. As is it looks like it will mount up well. I did notice one hanger on the rear muffler may be slightly off but I guess we'll have to see. I tried to find the exhaust again and it's sold out so it must have the attention of others as well. So I'm curious if anyone else picked one up?

Feel free to use this thread to post install pics, first impressions, complaints etc..

I'll see if I can get some pics up later on.. not sure when I'll do the install but I can get pics then too.

Did you meant a DPT Exhaust off Ebay for $388 shipped? Can you post a link to where you purchased from?

I'm waiting to hear back from them as a I started a thread about this exhaust in the B7 A4 section on AZ to replace my 165k OEM exhaust too.

Please post up install photos, review, SOUNDCLIPS!

    Thanks!

DNA Motoring is the eBay seller. I buy lots of AN fittings from them. They are simply an importer/reseller.

Not quite the same. The exhaust I got is the exact one I posted. Looks like everyone is sold out of it cause I can't even find any working links. Even the place I ordered it from doesn't have it.

It goes from 2.5" and then splits into 2" piping. That's plenty of flow for a stock/chipped/K04 car on a dual exit/muffler set up.

Not yet. Haven't had much free time to mess with the exhaust, plus it being cold out in a non heated garage is killing my motivation.

Sorry for the long delay. I finally had a chance to install this. Let me first say that it definitely needs some modification to make it fit to my expectations. First.. the hanger for the center resonator needs to be heated with a torch and bent outwards. If not it literally hits the driveshaft. Once you get that squared away you really need to fuss with it to get everything lined up properly. Because I got tired of it shifting around I stitch welded the clamps to hold everything in place. The last part that needs addressed (and this is simply due to my personal taste) is the pipe that the tips attach to and extends towards the bumper from the rear mufflers is way too long. This makes the tips stick out past the bumper about 3.5 inches. It looks ricey as hell. So I had a fab shop trim the pipe down and move the tips back so the only stick out a little. He also suggested we brace the two pipes behind the diff like the factory exhaust has otherwise you could see the casing on the mufflers flexing when the exhaust shakes around which would eventually lead to cracking I'm sure. Now to the sound... It actually sounds really good! At idle its not much louder than my factory exhaust with a test pipe. Cruising around it has a nice deep tone at low rpms and you get good turbo sounds out of the tail pipe. Under WOT it gets kind of loud (mind you I have a test pipe and 2.5 in tectonics tuning downpipe) but IMO it sounds great. No rasp or drone at all. Overall I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10 only cause it does sound good and is miles better than my old rusted out hole-y factory exhaust. If you don't have the resources to modify it this exhaust will be a nightmare for you. ill try and upload some pics and get a sound clip but I cant make any promises lol..

    DNA Motoring Exhaust?

    Thanks for the update.

I guess you get what you pay for with something that cheap. But good to know you can make it work with a little massaging.

The exhaust has been sold out on eBay for some time now and the seller says they have no eta for more stock.

There looks to be a similar style exhaust available for around the same price. They actually showed fitment on a B7 and it looks decent. May want to look into that. When I went into this I didnt have super high expectations on fitment. But for the price even with a little extra work it is miles better than my rusted out leaking factory exhaust.

There seems to be a lot of listings for FWD exhausts, the only quattro system I could find was this one from the seller 'speed daddy', but it's out of stock.

I ordered a complete turbo back system form http://www.hottexhaust.com/ here in Canada. I got the best price I found anywhere from them. They have a U.S. location and Audizine members get a discount.
The full Magnaflow 16601 SS system with the down pipe and a cat delete I paid a hair over $1100.00 CAD
Its 3" to 2.5" cat delete then 2.5" down pipe to the 2.5" exhaust to the Y pipe then 2.25" the rest of the way with 4" tips.
This is for my 03 A4 Avant MT

Looking at how the center res has an angle, that is a FWD I believe. There seems to be a shortage of Quattro exhausts on eBay lol

@PSI NRG Are you still running this exhaust? If so, care for a long term review?
