    Hey guys,

Couldn't find anything on this already. Looking to either paint/powder coat or wrap my cross bars black to blend in more with the Q5.

    Has anybody done this?

    Just plasti-dip them, that's what I did...

I wouldn't powder coat them. I wouldn't even paint them. Stick with vinyl wrap or plasti dip (or a similar product). Do plasti dip first and if you don't like the results remove it and get it wrapped at a shop.

Metadata freak checking in - OP mentioned cross bars. Are we actually talking about those, or the rails?

There’s definitely a few people who have wrapped them. It seems like it would hold up as long as you’re careful about what you mount to them. See here for an example: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...5#post12042175

just get the thule ones. hunt around for a deal on them if you want the black ones. you'll find some on ebay eventually.

i'll tell you one thing about those thule ones, they are like 66% IMO quieter with windnoise. these OEM audi ones are really loud and not aerodynamic at all. thules are waaaay better designed.

Thule 7603B with the 4002 fit kit through Cracks & Racks. They matched REI annual sale pricing when I bought them.

you can google the thule fitment guide and it tells you exactly. IIRC i got the 7603 with the 4002 feet. i also got the locks used on ebay for like a quarter of the price. i got the whole set up for like $315 on ebay by piecing it together.
