Im planning on installing a dashcam and trying to figure out type of fuses are used on a 17 A6. I would like to know which Fuse tap to purchase for hard wiring. Don't want to take apart anything, just want to get the correct items first. I believe its the "Mini" type of fuse, but Im having a heck of a time searching for this info. Is the "2nd Purple colored fuse" the right type at the link below? Thanks in advance.

I’m pretty sure it’s the ATO type fuse.

It’s really easy to check. Open your passenger door and there is an end cap on the dash. There is a small slot to fit your key (or a flat blade screwdriver) into. Insert and twist. The panel will pop right off.

I bought mini fuse taps for my A7, instantly regretted the decision when I popped open my fuse boxes. There is limited mini fuses and you gotta figure out what is hot all the time and hot when you turn on the car.

Buy ATO fuse taps and a fuse tester, only about $8 for the fuse tester. Pop open your fuse box before buying anything, you have to open it anyway.

Also buy extra fuses or a fuse tap kit with the fuses you need. You can pop off a fuse that you need to tap into, reuse that fuse then use a fuse in the kit. You need extra fuses since you're adding another circuit

Ok, its the bigger blade ATO type I need and ATO fuse taps. But there are mini fuses too. Man, can't they just use one type? Sorta dumb to me. Thanks for the info.

Ok, just started the install for my Blackvue cam. All the fuses on Pass side, both rows, are hot when car is off and they use Mini fuse. Damn. Had to move all wires to the driver side. Most fuses are Mini too. There is one row of ATO fuses and 2 rows of Mini's. On the bottom row of the passenger side, only one fuse is located in Position 2. All the rest are empty and there are no terminals on the empty positions. This is for a 2017 A6 P+. For those thinking of hard wiring to the Pass side, check your fuse blocks first.

If I have time this evening, I'll show you which fuse tap I used. I did one on the driver's side (garage door opener, perhaps) and it's been working flawlessly for nearly 2 years. The camera power is disabled when the car is turned off, just as I want it. This is for a 2013 S6, so I'm not sure if anything changed in the C7.5 models.

I ordered the piggy back fuse tap for mini fuses. Is that the type you used? Looks like they will do the job just fine.

From my Amazon order history, I bought these two items to make this work:
