Hi everyone,
Made my first trip to the dealership service center today for a front and rear wheel alignment ($170, dang!). When I picked the car up, the CEL light was on. It wasn't on before. The service rep scanned it:
000010 - Camshaft Positioner
P000A - 008 - Slow Response
The rep was intrigued, but simply cleared the code and offered the conclusion that it was just a fluke error "since they didn't mess with the engine at all during the alignment." I asked if they mess with the computer at all when doing alignments and he said no. I guess now I just need to see if the CEL comes back.
I'm wondering if anyone actually knows if it's possible that the dealership induced this error when performing an alignment. They also drove the car as a test drive before and after the alignment, for a total of 3 miles, so I'm surprised they didn't notice this afterwards. Is the rep correct and it is likely just a fluke? I've done some reading on this error but never seen anyone having this code appear after the shop does non-engine-related work. Right now it's probably a non-issue but I want to be prepared.
