Dealership Induces Code P000A Camshaft Position Slow

    Hi everyone,

Made my first trip to the dealership service center today for a front and rear wheel alignment ($170, dang!). When I picked the car up, the CEL light was on. It wasn't on before. The service rep scanned it:

    000010 - Camshaft Positioner
    P000A - 008 - Slow Response

The rep was intrigued, but simply cleared the code and offered the conclusion that it was just a fluke error "since they didn't mess with the engine at all during the alignment." I asked if they mess with the computer at all when doing alignments and he said no. I guess now I just need to see if the CEL comes back.

I'm wondering if anyone actually knows if it's possible that the dealership induced this error when performing an alignment. They also drove the car as a test drive before and after the alignment, for a total of 3 miles, so I'm surprised they didn't notice this afterwards. Is the rep correct and it is likely just a fluke? I've done some reading on this error but never seen anyone having this code appear after the shop does non-engine-related work. Right now it's probably a non-issue but I want to be prepared.

There is no feasible way for an alignment to cause that code. Change your oil and see if it comes back.

No way the dealer caused that.

Definitely not related to the work done.

I had a random p000a code, ended up replacing the n205 valve on the timing chain cover. There was oil in the electrical connector (somewhat common failure) if it comes back, I'd start there.

Same with mine. Replace the tensioner if after the n205 is changed and code stays. Food for thought the Chinese ordered n205 units last about 500 km waste of money on that purchase, then bought used unit from Axis and have been fine since.

The best price was from China and it ended up costing more?
