    ABS 8.0 coding

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello everybody.
Long time b5 s4 owner and just purchased a b7 s4 for an engine swap.
Since Ross tech does not provide coding for ABS 8.0 I figure I can collect a data base on my own. Please post your car year , engine , and transmission and factory wheel package size as that relates to brake type info . From all this info we should be able to build at least a partial database.

    Thank you

Here is what I got so far.

When you swap brakes, engine or transmission. Modules have to be programmed accordingly. Ross tech provides coding for ABS 5.3 5.7 but not 8.0 I hope to collect partial data myself that could be used by everyone.

I really appreciate the effort but that covers everything but ABS 8.0 and it's the reason I made this thread

Also there is a very good possibility your car is ABS 5.7 only some b7 cars came with ABS 8.0

So does this mean if you swap brakes like the 17z/18z BBK you have to change the coding?

You don't have too, but it will change bias slightly.

I know It will change the bias, but that's not something that can be coded out of the system. At least not on our cars...

It's not supposed to be coded out. Coding is matching software to hardware. If you were to switch to s4 345mm brakes on a4 xxx0x second to last digit will be zero from whatever it is now.

you would have to try and see which brake setting will give you best feeling. there is no simple answer. make sure you save your current coding if you decide to play around with brakes coding options.
my main reason for making this thread wasnt for matching brakes but matching different engine and transmission options with ABS . matching engine and transmission to abs will only have one proper coding for it.

still collecting information. rosstech is being stingy with info for abs 8.0 is the reason i made this thread. i will be doing an engine swap on b7 s4 to 2.7 tt with standalone that has 1.8t CANBUS . I need to recode abs to 4cyl turbo to make all electronics happy.

Started life as a TIP, I swapped to 6 speed from a 2007 S4. Ran into the same issue you did regarding 8.0 coding and the lack of information on it. I contacted Ross Tech and their response was basically "don't know what to tell you, post your question on our forum " ... did that and got a bunch of "leave it to the experts ". Great customer support.
I did it anyways. Along with a bunch of other stuff I was told to leave to the "experts" bwahahaha.

I’ve found that it’s hard to change the coding on the module without changing the whole module. I have an A4 and I’ve tried to put in S4 codes like 4901 and the ABS won’t work. I don’t think these modules were designed to be recoded to other Audi models (for example A4 to S4 or RS4). And my car is a 2006 3.2 A4 6-speed with 17” wheels and 320mm front brakes from the factory. My ABS code is 4379

4901 would wrong code to your car try 4309 . 4901 is for v8 cars only. only change the digit that represents brakes.

Ah gotcha so you think changing the second to last digit changes the brake option? I’ll have to try that. Anyone know what the correct ABS code is for a B7 RS4? I read somewhere that it’s 4533 but I’m not sure if that’s correct. I have 18z Porsche brakes installed so I feel like my braking bias should be matched to an RS4...

Yes. Every digit represent an option on a car, second to last digit is brakes. im looking for rs4 coding too . Im sure someone will post soon. try to change it to 0 its 345mm s4 option.

it changes the way abs communicates to other modules and its a way for abs to know what engine , gearbox etc car has. long story short for engine and gearbox swaps.

since you seem to know a lot about coding modules , how about guiding me how to code abs to 1.8t engine , rs4 8 pot brakes and 03a gearbox

If the options in long coding don’t allow it, you cannot. Long coding is a bit by bit decision. You simply need to know what bits relate to what, but that’s guided through long coding or prompts.
