AUDI A4 B6 CALIBRATE STEERING SENSOR PROCEDURE
I'm not having fun with VCDS today.

    I HAVE TRIED TO FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE IN;
    htp://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A4_(8E)_Brake_Electronics_(Bosch_5.7)
BUT IT HAS BEEN USELESS TO ME FOR USING VCDS.

Is there an up-to-date procedure for VCDS??

There is no measuring blocks 8.

I need a dumbed down step-by-step procedure from beginning to end.
The forums have been conflicting, confusing and pretty much worhtless.
Youtube videos are so small on the screen that you cannot see whay users are doing and are not accompanied with actual step-by-step procedures for us regular foks who simple want to clear some codes before the sun sets on yet another day.

I am exhausted from looking for the correct info on this.

    SOS!!

You dont need measuring block 8. 'Measuring block 08' is the icon you click, just like 'Login - 11' and 'Basic Settings - 04'.

The VCDS instructions are pretty concise. What exactly are you having trouble with?

Was using this trash from the Ross tech site above:
    *888888888888
    Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration
Before starting the procedure turn the steering wheel at least 30 ° left and back straight ahead.
    [Meas. Blocks - 08]
Group 005 Field 1 (Steering Angle Sensor -G85-)
    Specification: 0.0 °
    Tolerance (when straight): ±5.0 °
    [Done, Go Back]
    [Login - 11]
    Enter 40168
    [Do It!]
    [Basic Settings - 04]
    Group 001
    [Go!]
    [Done, Go Back]
    [Fault Codes - 02]
All fault codes should have disappeared.
    [Done, Go Back]

    Special Notes
Some of the Bosch 5.7 modules will not show live Steering Angle Sensor (G85) readings after the Login and Coding are performed. If this is the case -2.5 ° may be stuck in Measuring Block 005 and will not change when the wheel is turned. Make the wheels as straight as possible and continue with the Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration.
After doing the G85 Calibration, you may get a 01486 - System Function Test Active, this is normal. Please see 01486.

None of the fields look right to me.
You tube stuff has poor video and goes too fast to see what is being done.

The problem seems to have corrected itself..luckily..

Thank you for the response BTW.

I just need more visual how-to than jyyst a luust of steps that are not even numbered..vcds has a huge learning curve and I like to know exactly what the tool is doing before I go pushing buttons. I am still not sure whether this procedure above us even correct for the B6.

Thank you for the response BTW.

If you have a legit license of VCDS you should call them. They have amazing support and can walk you through it.

This part of the procedure yielded me nothing..no info available..
NOTE: Some of the Bosch 5.7 modules will not show live Steering Angle Sensor (G85) readings after the Login and Coding are performed. Again, in my case no info was available at all and not the -.25 that MAY show up..

    Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration
Before starting the procedure, and after starting the car and connecting VCDS to the 8E interface, turn the steering wheel at least 30 ° left and back straight ahead.
NOTE: I turned mine 135 right, center, 135 left, center..then..

    1. Select 03 ABS brakes
    Then from within ABS brakes..

    2. [Login - 11]
    Enter 40168
    [Do It!]
    then..

    3. [Basic Settings - 04]
    Group 001
    [Go!]
    [Done, Go Back]
    then..

    4. [Fault Codes - 02]
All fault codes should have disappeared.
    [Done, Go Back]

fault cleared..will keep you posted should it not work over time..
