Found this sticker on door jam

Never noticed this until a year after I bought my car as a CPO at an Audi dealership. Looked at the site but not sure if the dealership placed it there or where I got my car serviced at. Anyone know of this?

Our local dealers offer the same service, and they call it SecureMark. It's an RFID that allows them to identify stolen parts from vehicles in the event that it gets swiped and taken to a chop shop. Just an upcharge scheme, really. They sell it to you as if it's like a GPS tracker, but that's all bullshit. The RFID chip has an incredibly short range, so it's not like police could use it to track your vehicle down. If police raid a chop shop, they'll contact the vendor on the RFID sticker to scan the part and verify who's car part it is. It doesn't actually mean you'll get your baby back.

Some dealers we design use them to track the inventory within the parking lot. Also once the car is sold help them to track you visits back to the dealership and if you are back for service the writers know you are on site and will have your paperwork ready.

Usually it is located in the lower part of the door jam so it is easier to be detected by the readers embedded in the asphalt at the dealership.
