Hey. My radio is perma locked! I can't access the four digit code. I've heard you leave radio on for an hour. What is the step by step exact sequence? Thanks.

If you don’t have the code you need to ask the dealer for it. If you have the code you need to press and hold 2 buttons. Which radio is it?

Press the P.Scan and RBDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display.

I tried that still nothing. Stays in "safe" I think I put in 3 wrong codes so I got the ultimate lock out. It says "I need to leave radio on for one hour?" Then try again?

So the two buttons worked first allowing you to put in the code. You put in wrong codes now it doesn’t work at all right? I would say take it to the dealer. They need to give you the correct code (for free) and they can then check by putting it in for you.

Roger 10 4. Yeah I called the dealership they said I would have to bring it it. Which stinks because they might charge me.$ I was hoping for a more DIY direction.

I doubt it. If you can prove you own the vehicle (check with them what they require as proof before you leave) then they should be able to give you the correct code. They may indeed charge you to put the code in but I guess it depends who you get. I would also take the codes you already used to make sure you haven’t already tried the “correct” code.

Roger 10 4. I am bummed because it is my winter car and bought it to park my b6 due to the salt in vermont. Anyways radio worked great until I accidentally pulled the fuse.

Do you not know your radio code? In the future you should keep a card with the radio key somewhere you can find so this doesn't happen again. After a few wrong entries it will permanently lock you out and I'm pretty sure the dealer is the only place that can get you out of it. The code for the radio is available for free from Audi of America customer service if you provide them the vin number of the car and the serial number of the radio (found on the side of the radio after you remove it from the console).

Update. I finally was able to access the pin input. I had to follow the lock out procedure that occurs after you enter two wrong #s. I tried to enter 2 random ones then got locked out for good. I turned my radio on with my car shut off and keys in my pocket for 1 hour. The radio will shut off after one hour and I was able to access the screen for the 4 digit pin entry. How ever I still don't know my radio 4 digit pin. I called Audi dealer they wanted 55$. I even provided them with the vin#. It has been serviced there before too. I borrowed my friends vag tool and pulled what I believed is the serial #. Would it be something like (8D0035195A) also this came up too.
(Cod:00201) would this be the code? Maybe 0020 or 0201.

You should try giving Audi of America a call. They have given me the PIN for my cars radio before, free of charge. Just needed to give them the VIN.

The serial number should be engraved into the side of the symphony radio and it should start with "AUZ" The code is available for free from Audi of America, but they will need BOTH VIN and Serial number. IF you entered the wrong code too many times you will probably have to go to the dealership. The Cod number you found is NOT THE CODE.

I did the same thing!!!.. bought a used radio on eBay and every dealership I called they give me a quote for 130 to put it in and program it. I knew they were full of shit. Came to this forum and a fellow member told me the same thing.
Called Audi USA in Michigan and explain them the situation and they asked for the vin and gave me the code. The whole conversation took not more than 5 min.
Stay the F away from dealership as they will empty your pockets.number is attached.. hope this help and good luck

Bump. Just ordered my 4 removal keys from eBay. I will keep you posted when they come in. I will finally retrieve my serial so I can use those online radio code generators. They should arrive mid week after this weekend.

I pulled the radio fuse by mistake. That sent it into safe mode. :( it was a 25 amp fuse I believe. Won't do that again. I have disconnected my battery on my B6 multiple times. Never threw my radio into safe mode? Strange.

Finally got around to pulling my radio on my daily driver b5. To retrieve the serial number so I could unlock it from safe mode. I used the 4 keys set from eBay. It was super easy. Slide each one in, flat side facing outwards until you hear a click. Then pull a little from each one until you can slide radio out with hands. I was shocked to find a surprise like a boy on Xmas morning!!!

The radio code was on a piece of paper stuck to the top of the radio. It was exposed when I started to pull it out!! Yes. I was so happy. 4.78$ I was able to retrieve the 4 digit code. Used the unlock sequence and put in the 4 digit I found on the of the radio unit. Boom! Unlocked. Take that stealer ship. Quoted me 2 hours and around 75$ for a radio unlock at the dealership. They would have done what I'd did and found the code within minutes and probably would have charged me 100$. Hahah yes! Another win in the books. Hope this helps others. Try to fix it yourself before giving into the stealer ships.

    YES.

If you lock it out with incorrect codes, leave the ignition switched to leave the radio on for an hour it will reset and allow code entry again.

Nice! glad it's all sorted. The radio code sticker is also typically found in the spare wheel well in some cars too.

Thanks. Yeah I was glad too. Its my winter daily driver, didn't want to drop a lot of $. I am Saving for mods on my b6. In result I have been driving with no radio for a while until last night. I was so shocked to find the actual radio card with the radio security pin card sticker on top of the head unit once I pulled it away from the dash. :)
