    Firestone good for alignment?

My Avant needs to be aligned. Firestone offers a lifetime alignment for $200. Are they good enough to align a quattro properly?

    FUCK NO!!!!!

There has been alot of threads about members taking their car to Firestone only to end up taking it to the dealer to have it fixed properly.

Depends on the firestone you go to. Some have good employees that know what theyre doing. But generally i wouldnt take it there. Lol

On my 8th Audi now. First thing I do is buy a lifetime alignment at Firestone. Are they good? How would I know. Is the alignment from the dealer better? How would I know. What I do know is that I get aligned after any suspension work I do, and I don't get weird feathering or shoulder wear or tread noise from my tires. That's all I'm after.

a lot of them dont calibrate their machines. I've used Firestone in the past but after my experience with them I have ended up with uneven wear. But like someone mentioned, every one is different so the one near you may calibrate their machine once a week like they should, in which case it would be ok. Also depending on how low you you are they may never be able to match factory specs without buying adjustable UCAs, and they may charge extra the first time they have to adjust it . I normally get an alignment once or maybe twice a year at most. It's worth it to me to have it done by someone I trust , and I don't trust any of the firestones around me, not just because of their alignment, but i don't trust that they wont scratch my wheels doing something. Also depending on how busy they are, you may have to leave your car there and come back a few hours later to pick it up. A good way to combat that is get there but early in the morning.

I've used them in the past with my other cars but I didn't know if a quattro was more difficult to align

Recommend chkg w/ indy shops & find out who they recommend. Locally several indies recommend the same shop who has a guy in his 60's who has been doing this for over 40 yrs. I happen to have an appointment for tomorrow morning. Another good thing. Only $59.95 for a 4wh alignment.
PS This man is familiar w/Audi Quattro tire problems. He even personally road tests after aligning & tweaks if necessary.

Firestone near me is awful, they adjust tie rods, and thats it. When you ask them to do a 4 wheel alignment they just tell you your car cant have the rear adjusted. Next time around ill be taking my car to audi.

Like said above it all depends on the firestone and the employees they have are idiots or have half a brain. i have a tires plus right next to my place and my audi has never had problem luckily the one right next to my shop is cool, but the only thing i let them do are tires, rotationsa and alignment, and i never let them test drive my car when their done. Check tires plus cuz they are same as firestone maybe would give u more options for finding a shop with decent techs.

I debated on getting an alignment from an indy shop earlier this year but ultimately decided to go with the dealership. Drop it off on a Friday and get a loaner B9 for the weekend. That will make up for the price difference.
