Adaptive Light Defect - Fault Code 02626

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Another light issue and after much research it appears that the following code is likely due to bad wiring in the headlight assembly. I pulled the light and so far i am not seeing any bad wiring. It was suggested that I trace the wires from the headlight control module which is on the assembly. And trace the wires to the range control module, which I am told is on the right side of the dash above the glove box. How does one get at this? And I am not finding anything specific on the error code which I was hoping would give me a better direction. Anyone seen this code?

Gosh these headlight assemblies are expensive!

Update. Right (passenger) side headlamp assembly adaptive light defective code 02626 Dynamic Light Cornering Motor; Right (V319)

    cleared fault code
    turn on showroom effect
turn wheels to the left, both lights move to the left, both lights return to center when move wheels straight. Right cornering motor makes some grumbling noises (not smooth) but functions as should
turn wheels to the right, both lights move to the right, Right cornering motor works very smoothly until a certain point and the error code hits.
    clear fault code
    lights recenter
    repeat

So it seems as if the motor is shorting due to resistance or something. took a few things apart and don't think i can disassemble the headlight to replace the motor.

I think I am ordering a new assembly from AudiUSAParts.com.

    Any thoughts???

$700 is a lot to drop for a new headlight. I would gamble on sourcing a used one online somewhere. But if you don't think twice about the price then sure.

Personally, I was able to snatch up some facelift LED Adaptive headlights from 09-11 a6's on ebay for less than 150 each. A little wiring and it'll swap in. (You'll find a group of us swapping the led boards which makes it much more dificult)
A used 08 adaptive is 300. And some have been refurbished with new wiring to fix that issue.

Theres a member on here selling some but im not sure if their adaptive or not.

By the way, Welcome to the forums. There's a LOT of information on here that some searching will turn up. Look forward to seeing your car and if you plan on sticking around after this issue if fixed.

Thanks JPJ2007. Well, it is a lot of money but I can't afford to spend another weekend trying to figure things out to retrofit other than OEM lights. I did find a used one on Ebay for $450 plus $50 6 month insurance, but I don't want to have issues again with a used one. Rather spend the $$$ on one and done.

I will look on this site to see if I can find one that works. Don't get me wrong, would love to "tinker" with this but my weekends are usually consumed so when I get some free time my better half would prefer I am around rather than done at my shop.

Absolutely, there's no problems with that at all. If a used one runs 500 of course a little more for a new one makes sense.

    Best of luck!

So, bought a new headlight from audiusaparts.com. I thought that it might be the adjustment motor which is the pic with the colored wires (first pic) and this one moves the light up and down. When testing that works fine and not the code 02626. the second pic (I didn't locate the audi part number) is the motor and worm gear that moves the light side to side. as noted in my last post it wasn't working well and coded out. so new light and works fine.

Learning is that the third pic, i wasn't paying attention, is the quick disconnect for the washer fluid line that goes to the bumper. Not sure if any model can have this set up or if it is with the SLine model, but.... broke that sucker. and of course it's not very easy to get at and I'll need to take the bumper off again to try to replace this piece. not expensive, but it is a pita to get at and there's not much, at all, extra line so the bumper has to be closer than a hands width to connect (self explanatory as to the problem). (if anyone has the solution to this I'd love to hear it)

The light needs to be manually adjusted down a bit. which of the three screws do I need to adjust to drop the light?

(sorry no pics, guess I am not experienced enough to post pics)

You should be able to use a free hosting service like Flikr, (I like because you get a free Terabyte of hosting) then you can link the photos here.
