    Insurance premium on your S4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I think this is crazy, but my S4's yearly insurance is almost $1700 (full coverage), and is way more than what I pay on my Exige. It is also higher than what I paid on my ISF, and i was in my early 20's. What are you guys paying?

Well this is all going to be subject to where you live, but I live in south NJ and I pay $1,486 per year for mine. I have New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance, no accidents, and I'm 34. NJ is pretty infamous for having high car insurance rates though. I'm sure NY can vary a good deal depending on where in the state you live.

^That is true but out of the 4 cars I've owned the S4 costs the most to insure by several $100 and I don't understand why. I've lived in the same county.

Mine is $740/yr which is funny because it is cheaper than the 2016 Camry and 2017 Corolla that are on the same plan.

These threads are about as useful as comparing dyno numbers! Insurance premiums are based on dozens, sometimes hundreds of factors. Strictly comparing your end premium really doesn't accomplish much, other than frustrate or encourage you.

The things that most heavily affect premium in no specific order are Liability Limits and Coverages, age, driving record, credit, package (home, toys, umbrella, life insurance) discounts, zip code, number of cars and drivers in household, vehicle usage, specific vehicle characteristics, etc. etc. etc.

    FWIW, I am 30, solid credit, clean record, homeowner, in Northern IL and pay;

    $1,014 per year for my 2014 S4
    $673 per year for my 2007 S4

with $250k/250k/100k limits and $250/500 deductibles plus towing, parked car collision, etc.

This is with Kemper Preferred (who I am an agent with, and I can help you guys if desired).

Thats about what I pay. Full coverage $500 ded, 53, clean record, no accidents. I think I'm overpaying but I have to factor in the homeowners insurance which more than easily compensates for the higher car coverage.

My best advice, as an insurance guy for my entire career, is find a local independent agent and let them shop your policies for you. Request that they market your policies frequently, at least every few years. Package your Auto and Home, and if you rent get a Renters policy! Worry about coverage, not price. Increase your liability limits to the maximum you can afford and consider an Umbrella policy if you value the things that you've worked hard to attain.

Having cheap monthly payments means nothing when you have shit coverage and are caught holding the bag when the "unthinkable" happens. I've seen it far too many times.

My thread was mostly regarding insurance premiums compared to the other cars you have owned. For some reason the S4 is costing me the most.

I think mine is $1,300 a year, went up about 20 a month from my previous vehicle. (2017 wrx). I had a c6 corvette that was cheaper to insure than both of them.

That's fair to compare things that way. My B8.5 is 50% more per year than my B7 S4, which doesn't seem outrageous to me. The B7 is worth less than $10k and the B8.5 is worth around $35k.

Obviously companies are basing rates off actuarial tables, so they're looking at far more than just outright values. They look at the frequency of accidents and claims, the severity (bodily injury to all parties, physical damage, etc.) and base rates off that. Its a relatively high performance car, and expensive to repair, so its not surprising that they aren't cheap to insure. Plus you live in NY, which has some of the highest rates in the country, especially if you're in or near the city.

However in fl it all depends on your zip code.
    I am paying 1400 for my 18 S4
With high limits, clean record and 67
    yrs young.
Good thing in Florida insurance is stacked if you own more than one vehicle as a lot of people here don’t have Auto insurance.
Most of the money on your policy is for uninsured motorist.
I shopped around and Geico has the best rates with the best coverage.
Being a homeowner you have to cover
    your azz .
