Getting my A4 delivered end of Nov. Looking for thoughts on everyone’s top 2-3 picks. Mainly around making the car more efficient run/handle better. Saw recently APR intercooler which sounded promising.

Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

For your desires the best bang for the buck in those areas will be: Intake, intercooler and sways.

If you don't care about your warranty, get your ECU remapped as well. And if you do the remap, might as well add a high-flow cat. And only after you've done all of this would it even make sense to add an exhaust. I say this because the cost/benefit ratio is minimal at best. Most people want an exhaust to be loud or have the "look at me" effect. If you don't care about that and your above stated desires are true, I'd march along in that order.

So, following your road map, which intake, and which intercooler do your consider to be the best choices? My car is a manual, although I doubt that has much impact.

Also, where in the list of useful mods would you include something like the neuspeed power module?

Currently I can see there are two main Intakes out - the one by ECS Tuning and one by 034 Motorsport. I've got the ECS one myself an love it, though the 034 one looks good as well from reviews and is more 'stock' looking.

For intercoolers I've noticed that APR has recently released one and it's the one I am eyeing up though it is on the pricey side (though what isn't at this point?). It's the one I'll most likely be getting for my own car eventually.

Sways (034) and proper springs (034, Emmanuele, and H&R are all great choices) always end up being my favorite mod combination. Instead of making the car faster in a straight line you get to make the car faster around the twists!

After that intake, intercooler, exhaust, tune; let's open the gates and make some power!

From there the road gets dangerous, more power, bigger brakes, more and more power, etc lol

For me the best upgrade has been the APR tune. Really wakes up the driveability. Honestly I probably would have sold the A4 off already if the tune wasn't available. FWIW. I was thinking about upgrading to the B9 S4 and when I test drove one it didn't feel any faster than my tuned B9 A4.

I would certainly agree with this statement so long as the person doing the upgrades does not care about keeping their manufacturer's warranty intact. That's the only hold-up with tunes of any kind, even piggy-backs, whether they throw a TD1 code or not. Some dealers, every one I've ever used, for instance, are highly mod-UNfriendly. And living in Las Cruces, NM, there is literally only one option if I want to take my car to an Audi dealer (which I do while they are under the original warranty).

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not saying tuning is not an option. Just like any mod, it is worth considering. I never recommend tunes (personally speaking, of course) when cars are so new because typically the motors haven't been proven and we don't know what their life/repair cycle will look like.

So for me, instead of tuning, I'm simply going to ditch the car and pick of a TTRS. New car. New warranty. And more power. Ta-da! Lol.
