This summer I picked up my 2013 Q5 3.0T Premium Plus in Ice Silver Metallic. Couldn’t be happier so far.

    Portland, OR area

    Current Mods
    [x]-APR Stage 1 (installed 10/20)
    [x]-KW V1 Coilovers (installed 11/1)
    [x]-VFF103 20x10 et30 +5mm (installed 11/1)
    [x]-roceuro intake (installed 11/27)
    [x]-Wrap Chrome Trim/Rails (performed 12/1)
    [x]-Debadge/Black Rings F/R (installed 12/6)
    [x]-JC Sportline RSQ5 Grill (installed 12/10)
[x]-Black Optic Fog Grills (installed 12/10)
    [x]-Magnaflow catback (installed 1/8)
    [x]-Flat Bottom wheel w/ Paddles (installed 1/8)

    Future Mods
    Motor/Trans/Chassis mounts & reinforcement
    Rear Sway/End Links
    APR Dual Pulley Stg 2
    APR Cooling System

    Now for some pictures...

During my first 1000k mile road trip, with friend’s ‘13 3.0T

Maverick (dog) approved coilovers (KW V1)

Wheels left in the perfect spot (thanks FedEx)

    Ready for install

The garage... the 2000lb car should not have wider tires than the 4400lb Q5 (will fix that)

Thinking about 28.5” FTG for the coilovers tomorrow if anyone has input.

Blown away by the number of amazing builds and can’t believe how strong the aftermarket game is for these. Thanks for the inspiration! This will be fun...

    Cheers,
    Tom

Nice! Looking forward to following your progress and living vicariously through you as you continue to mod. I also picked up a 2013 3.0t this summer. Progress is going to be very slow, however.

Hey Tom props for 240! My Dad had a 280z and I learned to drive a stick in that car. Lots of memories wow.
Love your wheel choice. How you liking the APR Stage 1?

Wonderful choices - can't wait to see the look with the new stance and shoes.

(I tell my wife I lowered mine for the benefit of the dog as well.)

Thanks and Congrats! This forum is a dangerous place to look around. Some amazing builds out there. Did my best to keep the wallet closed but couldn’t resist.

Thanks! My dad has a red ‘71 and loved it growing up. Had to get one of my own.

APR stage 1 livens it up a ton. It was already pretty quick, now it’s hilarious. Thinking stage 2 dual pulley will make it ludicrous.

That’s brilliant! I think I’ll use that reasoning when mine sees it soon.

Very nice! I'm looking at the APR Stage 1 as my first upgrade as well. Then new rims and tires. Should be fun following your build.

You'll love the 3.0T. I have the same and it is a car I can see keeping for a longg time.

    cantcatchtomm’s Q5 Build Thread

Wow this thing feels incredible. There’s an Audi Club Northwest track day and driving school this weekend at Portland International Raceway. Last year I instructed but this year I can’t make it. Wish I could because it reminds me of my ‘16 Golf R. Now the Q5 doesn’t dive under braking, squat while accelerating, or lean when turning nearly as much as before... it also doesn’t feel harsh or bumpy (to a guy who grew up karting fwiw). Really happy with the suspension’s overall feel and would love to test it out at an event or two.

Wheel and tire setup is exactly what I was hoping for. Much more aggressive looking. I’m going to catch myself turning around and checking the car out daily....

Here’s a shot I took in my driveway. It’s not as low as I wanted initially but I won’t have to worry about rubbing. May go lower in the spring.

Thinking I might debadge it and take off the roof racks this evening and take better pictures tomorrow.

Nice to see another Q in the Portland area! Looks good, and I'm jealous of how much extra passing power you have over my 3.2

Wow!!!! What a transformation! My old wheels looks awesome on your Q!!! I’m glad it went to a good home. Btw, those tires rocks and super quiet for a highperformance tires. Super stoked on the new look. Also, I suggest adding the fender guard wing extension. It will really compliment the looks of the car and its functional.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks everyone! I’m going to Test her out this Sunday at an autocross.

Portlanders, come on out to cars and coffee at the track. I think they’re letting everyone out on the track for some laps with Audi Club Northwest’s “Quattrofest”

Some shots from the parking garage at work. Rain is here and I’m not the best photographer, but she looks good...

Racks are off now. Had to go into the dealer since my toolset seemed to be missing the piece I needed.

Thanks! I have some shadowline vinyl for the window trim and sent an email to JC Sportline about a grill. Want the chrome gone!

These tires are 295/40/20. They make me happy.

Update: took her to Quattrofest. Surprised a lot of people and had a ton of fun.

I ordered the wrong size rings so ordered some other ones. Black optic fog grills should arrive later in the month as well. Soon it’ll be goodbye to chrome!

Ordered the grill through JC Sportline. Took less than a week to arrive from China and was well packaged. It’s all gloss black which isn’t what I’m getting for window trims, Fog grills, and badges (satin) so hoping it still works together...

I took off the front plate holder and badges for a cleaner look but am waiting on the black rings still. Will install the last week of the month.

UPDATE: Roc Euro intake has shipped!

I installed the same style grille on my Q5 not too long ago.

You'll have to trim off the bottom two corners in order to make it fit. I used a coping saw to hack it off.
Other than that it should be straight forward. Good luck.

    ^Thanks for the heads up!

Just got the notification today that the fog grills are on their way. Black emblems are at the post office too.

    Also... this showed up:

Besides those pieces, all that’s left is the exhaust and the trim (happening Friday).

    A couple updates...

Car went in last week for the window trim and rails to be wrapped in satin black. I also debadged the car.

This weekend I installed the rsq5 grill and BO fogs. Removing the bumper was pretty simple but I watched 2 movies while I used a tiny hacksaw to modify the grill and support to make it fit (PITA!).

    Here’s how it looks now:

Exterior is pretty much done. Next I’m planning to install an S5 steering wheel with paddles and the magnaflow.

Have you considered the fender protectors from the S Line?
On yours, I think they'd be both aesthetic and functional.

    Thanks!

I’ve been meaning to order the fender protectors. Another thing to add to the list!

Looking muy bueno Ice brother. De-chroming on silver makes a world of difference.

I recommend grabbing a Carista and turning off the amber side marker in the headlights. Looks great at night, gives that Euro look without paying $1k.

    Santa dropped this off recently...

...getting it and the exhaust installed late next week. Anyone know if there will be any changes needed with wiring/pins to install? This had the same button layout as my ‘13 Q5 with four spoke square airbag wheel. Hoping it’s plug and play.

Also, thinking about disabling wink, disabling amber sides, and brightening LEDs while they unlock the paddle shifting. Any other ideas/suggestions?

    Happy holidays!
    Tom
