Removal of Door/Dash Trim and Center Console

Am getting ready to upgrade the interior of my 2015 Audi S3 with some carbon fiber. However, before attempting to remove (potentially damage) the existing aluminum trim pieces from all four doors, the three pieces from the dash, and the center console, and ship them off for CF mods, had a few questions.

I have watched some of the available “how to” You Tube videos, searched the VW/ Audi forums for tips. Based on this have purchased from Amazon the Audi radio removal tools to allow for the removal of the multi switch on the dash that appears to overlap the center dash trim pieces. In addition, I have purchased some plastic trim removal tools. Here are my questions:

DOOR TRIM - (1a) Can the plastic trim removal tools be used to remove the door trim without having to remove any other door components? (1b) Also, some Audis appear to have trim that has to be removed from a specific end of the trim to avoid damaging the clips. Is this the case for the S3?

DASH TRIM - (2a) Are the radio removal and trim removal tools sufficient to remove all three trim pieces (assuming the multi switch is remove first? (2b) Do you start prying with the trim tool from a specific part of the trim?

CENTER CONSOLE - (3a) Based on some You Tube videos and some of the other VW/Audi forums, all you need is a plastic trim tool placed perpendicular to the console at the MMI button to raise the console cover. Is this correct? (3b) Also, can the MMI harness and cup LED lighting harnesses be left disconnected and the car remain operable/drivable for the two week while the console cover is modded with CF (I would think so but do not want to mess up the electrical system or something else).

If there is anything else I may have not considered or missed to allow for these interior mods, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help.

The tools will be here Friday and I was hoping to work on it this weekend. But really did not want to be the S3 ginny pig and am pretty sure others have completed similar mods.

Looking at the center console in more detail today, am now also concerned about the parking break and start button. Not sure if these can easily be disconnected from the cover I plan to have covered with CF.

I will try to take some pics and maybe do a step by step if it all works out. But was really hoping to get some pointers from the Forum.

I did a similar topic and didn’t get anything. I really didn’t want to buy carbon fiber inlays online when I can just wrap them myself. Good luck, man!

Here is a link to a You Tube video I found that shows the removal of the center console (0:55 to 5:30 is of the most use). However, the melting of the clips to allow the removal of the cover concerns me and having to glue it back. Also, the demo is to allow the install of some LED light around the cup holder and does not appear to allow for the entire removal of the cover.

    https://youtu.be/O3I8zfydK1g

So the center console appears to be the most challenging part to the CF mod.

If anybody has tried this or has a different way to remove the cover or if it is even possible, please share. Assume removal of the entire piece would render the car inoperable?
